I'm surprised. Everything I've read people prefer the a6300 over the Fuji. I guess it all comes down to personal preference in the end though.

Yeah man. Fuji's picture quality is dope to give up. Here's one of the few I got today with the Fuji X-t1.

Once I get the settings with the light and focus straight, I don't have to worry about the color being off. I just didn't see that picture quality with the a6300. I was probably a little bias with the sony being that the ergonomics of the a6300 was new to me. I have the x100s already, so I was somewhat familiar with X-T1. I am happy that i returned the Sony for this one though.

Peace brehs and brehettes, I'm looking to get into street photography and was looking into DSLR cameras under or right around $400. I was thinking about the Nikon D5200 but read it doesn't have sensor-based image stabilization. That sounds bad to me not sure if I should cop it. I was also peeping the Canon EOS Rebel T5 SLR but read that its photo quality sucks in low lighting.

Any other recommendations?

it just means the lenses need to have image stabilization for you to have it.

But for street photography that isn't really a huge deal unless it's dark and you really just need an extra 2 or 3 stops to freeze something. IS is usually when your shutter speed has to go below the length of you lens because of the lens length or dark lighting and you cant or dont want to bump up your iso. And its mainly used for still subjects but if you're shooting moving subjects with a short lens there are things that come way before IS for a camera and lens. It's really gonna come down to your lenses first, if you're on a budget what you're looking at is not a deal breaker for the D5200.

For street photography you should be looking into performance in low light, focusing speeds and mainly focusing on your lenses(shorter and wider), at this early stage

you dont edit in raw? i think there may be a difference when shooting in raw,

At times yes, at times no. If I don't need to, or I'm hired for an event and they want pics right away....i'm using jpeg. With my fuji, the jpeg's are spot on for a party.

Edit: @8WON6 are you doing anything special to the the reflection of the background into the water in your photos?

So I made the jump (or dive rather). Picked up a Sony A7S with a 50mm Sony lens the other day. Probably have around 100 pics taken. This thing is a monster in low light, just unreal. I'll upload some pics Monday or Tuesday when I'm back from Toronto.

The reflection shot in my last post is actually glass. And the other reflection shots haven't had anything special done to them outside of normal edit. Just making sure the camera is as close to the reflecting surface as possible.

And this is the tripod I'm currently using. Nice and sturdy travel tripod. Way cheaper than the name brand but I believe it's just a rebranded version of one. You can take one of the legs off and use it as a monopod too. Going for $60 right now.
