These fools are damn lying to themselves talk about PS5/XSX gaming gen is dead... :smh:

I'm coming around to the idea that the only people really saying that are people that make a handful of purchases per year, usually of the high end AAA variety. There's been plenty of great games, we're just at a point where you can't expect studios to pump out four or five heavy hitters per generation any more.

So much shyt releases every year though.

People just want more releases from studios like naughty dog and rockstar. Sony is pretty much on the same AAA cadence they were on last gen minus Japan studio stuff which were weed plates to most people.

2019 for example was mainly death stranding and days gone, you had smaller stuff mixed in like concrete genie.

2018 was god of war and Spider-Man

2017 was horizon and lost legacy?

For what we lost in Japan studio has been filled with a ton of similar scoped indie and AA releases that they practically give away now. A game like concrete genie or resogun would be a ps plus day one game now

There has been way beyond 5 quality AAA games this generation. The problem with this gen is the number of games that provide gameplay that was not possible before. Games were either cross gen or only provided prettier graphics when they were exclusive to this gen with only some providing gameplay that was not possible before which was disappointing. Besides that, there are plenty of AA and AAA games to play with amazing variety.

Yeah, that's what I mean. You got people complaining about how long GTA 6 is taking, or how there aren't any games hitting like GTA 5, while completely overlooking the fact that they have purposefully played little else since then, despite there being a wide range of great to classic games that have come out since. At some point, if you find that you don't like anything that's out, you gotta consider that it could be as much about your own tastes changing or being very specific as it could be about what's available.

I think a lot of that has less to do with studios not trying, and more to do with development cycles being much longer, and publishers being more risk averse than ever. If you can make a game that just runs and plays better on specific SKUs for the same cost, and potentially double your revenue, unfortunately, you're asking for that from your developers. I think we're about to enter a couple of year long sweet spot where we FINALLY see developers making the most of the generation, but we're likely about to enter the cycle again in the next three or four years once the next console cycle rolls out.
