- 1440p is becoming dominant in the pc monitor space
- scaling done on console is typically better than monitor/tv scaling
- hdmi 2.0 can scale 4k/60hz to 1440p, but 4k/120hz is too much for it
- only supports 120hz at 1080p/1440p
- some 1440p monitors won't even take 4k/60, so ps5 would have to send out a 1080p image, and then the monitor scales up to 1440p, reducing image quality
- update has a mandatory test mode
- VRR does not work with 1440p right now
- VRR is in violation of HDMI 2.0 spec at 1440p
- some monitors limit freesync to 100hz
- some tvs have a problem with 1440p/60hz for some reason where you get a black screen
- press right then X to fix
- PS5, potentially, has a better setup than Xbox as it would scale to the best possible output while Xbox requires changes at the dashboard
- Star Ocean 4 HD offers 1440p with no AA and shows 1:1 pixel mapping
- Pubg on PS4P does not have 1:1 pixel mapping despite being 1440p output
- games with dynamic res or 4K hud are not mapped 1:1 due to the output being higher than 1440p
- Demon Souls renders internally at 1440p, upsampled to 4K, then downsampled to 1440p. improves quality
- can also capture ps5 games at 1440p/120hz now
