Those are duties that ALL Christians are to observe.....slaves AND 'masters'.....for a very specific reason.........

Ephesians 6:9

And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.

You should also ask yourself this: When did the Abrahamic Covenant expire?

Genesis 17:14

He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.

:jbhmm:
Slaves was a different concept in the Bible
Do you have a job ? You're pretty much a slave and the same rules apply

How y'all reconcile that God allowed your ancestors to be enslaved and oppressed for centuries?

The world lies in iniquity since the foundation, most people, even christians, don't understand that we live under the edge of the devil. By His grace at the right time the righteous will be justified, this is the law.

Romans 3:23-26 "since all have sinned and continue to fall short of God's glory. By His grace they are justified freely through the redemption that is in the Messiah Jesus, whom God offered as a place where atonement by the Messiah's blood would occur through faith. He did this to demonstrate His righteousness, because He had waited patiently to deal with sins committed in the past. He wanted to demonstrate at the present time that He himself is righteous and that He justifies anyone who has the faithfulness of Jesus."

God has patiently observed human wickedness, to understand "why" of all this this verse explains better than any other:

Romans 9:22-23 "What if God, desiring to show His wrath and to make known His power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, in order to make known the riches of His glory for vessels of mercy, which He has prepared beforehand for glory"

The world is full of vessels prepared for perdition, people who have come only to do evil and to shame the name of God. But at the same time, the vessels of glory, those who seek good and salvation through Christ Jesus will be blessed with eternal life and will inherit the kingdoms of the heavens.

I want to have faith but it's so hard. Look what's going on. Don't tell me sign of the times. Innocent people don't deserve to be killed. Why were we tossed here among these devils? I only pray for things I have no control over. Like my family's health and safety.

You didn't address the Atlantic slave trade at all but ok let me ask

so God, supposedly omnipotent and merciful, allows a world where his creation can be terrorized by another one of his creations (The Devil) and is just waiting on the right time to fix things? and we supposed to worship this guy even though he allows rape, murder, human trafficking, genocide, racism, etc.?

This was quite clear in the verse quoted that the righteous shall be justified in His glory, that his law shall prevail.

Supposing He wanted to exterminate the evil of the world right now, He would have to exterminate the whole human being because in His eyes no one would be worthy of salvation, given the fact that we are all born sinners and prone to sin.

RM 5:12 "Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned"

And that's why He gave His son Jesus, so that we all would have the opportunity to redeem ourselves through His sacrifice.

RM 5:18-19 "Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous."

You ask just as many others question His omnipotence, but forget that He Himself follows His own law, like a code, and if He did things as He pleased He would be no different from the devil.

The problem is that people think of God with a limited mind, we want solutions to our struggles and suffering, but He has a plan and at the right time everything will be revealed.

Slaves was a different concept in the Bible

There were different conceptions of 'slavery' in the text that are not applicable to what is considered 'slavery' in the modern sense of the term.

There were also some that were. For instance, what the Canaanites were subjected to while in captivity in Egypt. But even that is not wholly equivalent to the modern sense since even while in captivity, they had 'slaves' and brought them out of Egypt during the Exodus. Not as 'property', but as recipients of the same redemption available to the Canaanites when they reached Israel.

The main issue with equivocating 'slavery' (in the modern sense) to 'slavery' in the ancient sense is that the ancient conception was for survival and not driven by capitalism.

so God allows all things because of his "plan". Atlantic slave trade is apart of him "plan" I guess. Pathetic. And even more pathetic that god lets the devil punk him

Lol that's all Christians can say when asked these questions. Refer to mystical plan because you don't want to face the reality

any of you brothers have any tips or advice on decision making? these past few months i feel like i'm being tested with big decisions in my life and no matter how much i try to do it in faith it still seems as though i'm making the wrong choices :mjcry:

Keep up with prayer and also ask for consultation among people you believe to be righteous.

What wrong kind of decisions are we talking about?

Reminds me of when I decided to work for Fed Ex, instead of a department store. I ended up hating the job and quit within a few days. Anyway, I did some job searching and the exact same department store called me for the job. I ended up with a better position, than the previous one that they had offered. Look at the decision as a gateway for something bigger. Maybe starting some freelance work on the side. We as people think that we make the worst decisions in the world, but in reality those same decisions have different directions that will steer you into the right direction in your life. As long as you keep going the right path, instead of making erratic turns for the worst.

Lesson learnt, you quit a job only once you have secured another job & have signed the paper work
