Yeah that's what I'm saying she's not the princess that was promised. I'm hoping it might be Coco or the sport is in real trouble

yall say this about every sport and they keep going on fine enough

no one player is bigger than an entire sport...ratings will dip but people will still want to play and watch as they did when every other great player left

and I actually think it's good when the GOATs go out sad/not on top...people get used to them not dominating any more and accept others are better now

There are more black girls coming up in the ranks now thanks to Venus and Serena. One of them is sure to blow up like Coco.

But Serena's one of one. You can't replicate that kind of upbringing where you have two of the best tennis players ever growing up in the same household.

I think women's tennis is different than the big 4 major American sports. Most people couldn't name the current top 3 ranked women's players. Many people only watch the US open when Serena plays. I really think Serena is bigger than the sport

I think women's tennis is different than the big 4 major American sports. Most people couldn't name the current top 3 ranked women's players. Many people only watch the US open when Serena plays. I really think Serena is bigger than the sport

there's a difference between her dominating the sport for a time and being bigger than it

her being bigger means the WTA is going to close up shop soon which I don't think will happen and you have to remember, tennis is a global sport. It's harder for those to fail. American interest will drop for sure tho.

I agree with this...I was just noting how when the championship window closes, they hang around longer than most think they should

but truth is, we didn't stop celebrating Mike because of the Wizard years or Hakeem on the Raptors...their peak is what will be rewatched and discussed..so if they're happy leaving everything out there, then salute to them.
