The Official South Florida Discussion Thread

There was a discussion about this on the radio last week with Keon Hardemon (Representative for OT) and others where they spoke on this.

According to Keon the majority of the residents are for it and it will actually create more money for the CRA where they can redevelop the area a bit. He also mentioned that the protesters weren't actual residents of the area, and once they left only those that lived there were left and spoke in favor of the project.

Pretty much their only concern is having work.

On the otherhand the protesters were worried about gentrification of course and had their doubts as to whether or not this would create jobs.

After their discussion I sided with Hardemon only because it's true that the World Center is not actually in OT and it's also true that OT is getting cleaned up and being maintained as a 'Historic Disctrict' and having the World Center there could bring more attention to that. But we'll see how it goes...

We will see I know Hardemon he went to the West I met him at Famu actually I just dont trust the city because I seen so many broken promises especially dealing with Town

when i look around there's no excuse for anyone not having some kind of job in miami dade. there's so much going on and the dynamic growth and renewal is something on another level. i saw 3 we're hiring signs today in my travels. OT residents are wise to be aware of the gentrification monster because it occurring in other cities around the country.

Bang for your buck, Pines and Miramar are OK.

If you're gonna live in Broward you'll get more bang for your buck past Griffin, though.

Breh north dade is where Ive been looking... I want to fukk with Aventura but every condo has a HOA fee 500 plus Im buying in March next year so hopefully things change. I still work downtown though I even lived in Davie for a lil min too it wasnt bad

They're doing some new constructions on Ives Diary...I can't remember the name..its Aventura something ( even tho it's not in Aventura)

There's no apartments across from Tootsies or shells. Residential stuff is north though. Miami Gardens, land of the strip clubs. The Office, KOD, Tootsies and the Mint. G5 too.
