Hey foks! Figured I'd start a thread to compile all the statistical information we take for granted.

Properly sourced information is requested for anyone who posts in the thread!

So here goes:

1 in 4 Americans meet the income based requirement for Medicaid (133% or less of the FPL)

Total Individuals Enrolled in Medicaid and CHIP in August 2016: 73,137,1546
Additional enrollment since October 2013 when the initial Marketplace open enrollment period began: 15,712,869

Medicaid
: Includes those covered by Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and those who have both Medicaid and another type of coverage, such as dual eligibles who are also covered by Medicare.

Medicaid, not Medicare, is the nation's largest insurer.

Five Facts about Medicaid

This recent recession, having begun in December 2007, lasted 18 months.

Until now the longest postwar recessions were those of 1973-5 and 1981-2, which each lasted 16 months.

The 2007-9 recession was the deepest on record since the Great Depression, at least in terms of job losses.
