when you said in the past you worked at a Bookstore I never assumed it was the same Sankofa you put me on to...this is on some nerd shyt but I don't care...it must feel good to have a job like that surrounded by books.

The location I gave to the Queens Village GK store is one of the few Black owned businesses in my area to my knowledge...for some odd reason NY in general seems to have a limited selection...

here is a mini market:

Joebest African Caribean American Market

180 Meacham Ave, Elmont, NY 11003
(516) 326-2012

remember guys you can also view the locations on google maps...i know it sounds a bit obvious but may be necessary to repeat...

Also just because we each may not be in the ar ea of a specific business a fellow member lists doe not mean we cannot fidn ways to get the word out about it.

For example in Jamaica Queens around Sutphin Boulevard there are numerous Arab owned corner stores and I think in that distance there is only literately like ONE Black owned corner store. Even though it closes in the night way quicker than the others that stay open all night....that isn't the main issue. People literally pass it all the time and its like nobody supports it and it must get like 2 visitors every hour...

If you pass it is so dead you will often see the owners just sitting down watching tv on the screen...

That place sells groceries?

@Captain_Crunch how far are u from that area? not gonna bombard/bother you about going just curious.

But the store is honestly a ghost town most of the time. And it isn't in the best of conditions...but Ill start to be more supportive of them though they have been there for a while ...

as a side note I wish there were more cooked food places around here besides Golden Krust ...tired of going to Mcdonalds and subway

I live in Harlem, so pretty far :heh:
You live in East Queens right? So there should be a bunch of Carribean spots in the area or Soul Food.

For soap, moisturizers, and the like, you can support Nubian Heritage. They were founded by Harlem residents. Great products.

I'm in charge of the inventory, we scrappin with these chain stores breh any little bit of support counts. I'm putting together a brochure for inmates to use so they can order from us.

Actively supporting Black business whether working for them or buying from them is some truly rewarding shyt to do.

I don't see where you can but online from either of these sites
