I feel Australia was having it but he made that IG post talking about his exemption and conforming he was not vaxxed and that forced the hand of the Aussie gov.
I'm convinced that if he had shut up and kept the doubt on his vax status as he did for months before, nothing would have happened to him.
But yea, it his own damn fault indeed. He'll be attempting at #21 at wimby at least because he's not playing in France without being vaxxed.

By the word of some players like Pospisil, Novak was willing to sit out the AO two months ago. He only decided to make the plane trip once Tennis Australia told him they'd get him an exemption. That's the inciting incident.
So why the hell did Australian officials think they'd be able to get an exemption?

Novak being expelled was purely political. The Australian government needed a patsy for justifying locking down their nation and were worried about the optics of letting someone with an exemption play. I like that Kyrgios stood by him and called out other tennis players. The WTA stood their ground when the Chinese player went missing. These guys were happy he's not playing.
All the players knew months ago, he made it political. I just wonder how this affects his status for the rest of the grand slams.

I expect it depends on the country? Some accommodate unvaxxed travellers, some do not.
I think, because of the way this has been handled, that other countries will try not to fall into the same traps, so there will need to be some sureties before any announcements are made that he will be competing.
