Man all of what you said about Medvedev is true especially about the drop shots. It was like Rafa used the Novak tactic and stuck with the drop shot which later pays off (Novak kills Rafa with those now). Med need to work on that net game and being more offensive. Rafa made some adjustments but Med let the crowd get into the match and he was cooked when that happened. Being up love-40 in the 3rd set up 3 games to 2 and just choked.

Rafa scheduled to play in Mexico next month then Miami in March and then will do the usual and play all 4 clay warmups prior to the French. Somebody needs to tell him to skip Madrid :snoop:
I wish I could find a video or screen caps of Med's forehand/net fukk ups. There would probably be dozens of forehand opportunities where Nadal is on the right side of the baseline, Med is about to hit the ball with the entire left side of the court open and he hit it right back to Nadal instead. It was unbelievable. The announcers were calling it out too.

Yeah, I don't know why Rafa would load his schedule at this age. I understand getting into playing shape but the guy already won two tourneys this year. :mindblown:

Say whatever you want but Prime Pete beats all these dudes :flabbynsick: and I was an Agassi stan growing up because of the 2 hand backhand the radical and training VHS tapes
The surfaces play slower now so he would struggle against these guys. Fed would have 25 Slams if they didn't start slowing everything down in the late aughts and early teens.

Excuses that's all you've got, he aint gonna go down as the greatest at all.

It's either gonna be Djokovic or Nadal, get outta here with slowing down courts. Plenty hard courts are fast as hell.

As I said delusion breh

Lots of "delusional" :mjlol:people out there including the International Tennis Federation itself.

"US Open director says courts were purposely slowed down this year
Sep 5, 2018

NEW YORK -- Roger Federer called this "the slowest US Open we've seen in years.''

Turns out that was no accident.

US Open tournament director David Brewer said Wednesday night that the Grand Slam event's hard courts were purposely slowed down "a touch'' in response to players noting in recent years that the surface seemed to be speeding up."

They keep the grass a bit longer and it's softer, so obviously that's going to slow down a ball in its own right," said Raonic.

"I think the [new] surface is a little bit too slow," he [Federer] said. "Everything is already slowing down. Everybody's already complaining that we're playing too much from the baseline. So we'll only see more of that here in Australia, that's for sure."

"The International Tennis Federation has stepped in to counter the power serves of the men's game by introducing three types of balls to be used according to the pace of the surface."

"The introduction of the different balls will slow down the power and speed of serves on hard courts, but speed up the game on slow surfaces, such as clay.

The ITF said the larger type 3 ball flies off the racket at the same speed as a standard ball, but will slow down during flight to give the receiver about 10 percent more reaction time.

It's report said during two years of experimentation, including testing at Davis Cup and Fed Cup ties and men's professional events, the larger ball improved accuracy, allowed for longer rallies at all levels of play and increased ball visibility for players and spectators."

Nah, it's no excuse for some of Fed's losses, but the slowed down courts is absolutely real. You can definitely see it everywhere but the French Open.

Fell asleep early in the 3rd set thinking Rafa would be in trouble but he gritted it out. What a way to win 21 :wow:

Really amazing when you put into perspective he was on crutches back in October, and contracted covid not too long ago. I hope he can carry this form into French and USO this year

They do play slower but him bombing serves and rushing the net would still be a big problem for these guys and he was capable from the baseline unlike Isner. He would still be a massive threat

Delpo retiring :mjcry:

his 2009 season was :wow: pushed Fed at the FO, blasted Rafa off the court at the USO, then took out Fed :wow:

Man delpo showed ridiculous tenacity dude has been badly injured for damn near a decade and didnt quit. Respect to that man

saw he was gonna play in Argentina so I thought he was trying to make a return but once them injuries get ahold of you:francis:

props to Murray for fighting and even with his improvement over the past couple of years, he still looks like a shell of his former self :francis:

don't think there is a sport that's as brutal on an athlete trying to comeback after a long layoff like tennis

Watch @Mazino ignore this post :wow:

Federer was literally at the height of his powers till they started to slow down the courts around 2008-2009. I remember during Fed's unstoppable streak, they would groan how it got "boring" because Federer was always winning easily

Not a coincidence Nadal and Djokovic started racking up Tennis Slams once this happened :sas2:

It's the duration of tournaments

You can play a match or two just fine but need time to recover. Playing a regular tournament schedule is brutal

I hurt my back and can play a match 2 times a week at partial strength but if I was in a legit tournament I'd get wrecked
