I'm not convinced Masters going away from best of five has hindered the development of younger players to be honest

it's a different animal especially when up against the Big 3 (or at least Novak & Rafa now)

Sure it doesn't but like I said it doesn't mean that those best of three matches has hindered younger players, it doesn't really matter if Masters was best of 5 as well. That won't mean they'll take these slams from the big three over the years.
