She doesn't have to move as much in doubles. I wish she'd get in better shape because she is really talented but she's cheating herself by not keeping her weight down.
Patrick McEnroe publicly humiliated her for the weight when he was heading up the USTA, which I found unforgivable. She’s a terrific player who moves well for a big girl, but I agree the weights been a hindrance.

With the amount she trains, I'm assuming there is a valid reason for the weight so I don't pass judgment. Even if there isn't, if she's found a balance of happiness this way then good for her

Big Foe the third Black American man in the top 10 after his win in Stuttgart :obama::myman: Lets see if he can make a deep run at Wimbledon

With that said: Do y'all think the tours have got a youth problem?

Now that Stan and Andy Murray are :flabbynsick: and Dominic Thiem has been sent a few brochures, you have a couple of active contenders w/ one GS apiece, and a 36 year old Novak Djokovic who seems as likely to win the calendar slam as a any of these young guys do of stopping him

On the WTA side, the generation that was meant to succeed Serena has kinda failed to launch:

  • Ash Barty retired at the peak of her game and Naomi Osaka I think is prob in that "quit while I'm ahead" mindset too
  • Bianca Andreescu and Emma Raducanu came out of nowhere to win the US open and then turned back into pumpkins right after
  • Sofia Kenin fell off after 2020; Krecikova hasn't been back in a GS final since winning at RG in '21; Jelena Ostapenko hasn't been back in 6 years and her weight's ballooned
  • Iga has the makings of an all time great but kinda does that "Aww shucks Im just happy be here" bit and IDK if she can really move the needle
  • Aryna Sabalenka is the maybe the most athletically gifted player on tour and has one GS title to her name at age 25 to go along with a reputation as a choke artist

The only youth problem on the ATP is Novak Djokovic but I do believe in time Alcaraz will start beating him at GS.

As for the WTA, it's too volatile to really say that a young player is gonna come along and win 3/4 GS every year but I do like the idea of their own Big 3 in Iga, Sabalenka, & Rybakina.

I disagree on the Djokovic thing. These guys should be picking him off here and there. None of them have defeated Joker at a Slam besides Medvedev at the 2021 US Open when Novak was zapped.

Thiem beat him a couple times at the French but he's already cooked.

These guys can't pick off Novak because they have exploitable holes in their game. Novak isn't beating these guys with anything other than pure solid play and superior mental toughness. That's why I believe Carlos will pick him off from time to time...he's solid in all facets and mentally strong, just gotta worry about his body holding up.

Again....can we just skip to the the US Open? Nothing that I have seen the past two weeks have led me to believe Novak will lose no more than 4 sets on the way to the title....again :russ:

I'm super into the women's side this year

Rybakina's win last year had an asterisk now she's back trying to remove all doubts

And if Sabalenka keeps her shyt together like she did in Melbourne, and the All England club hands her a live mic after banning her from the tournament last year :patrice: Could be some top tier fukkery
