Really wondering how Swiatek would fare again 2000s WTA with heavy hitters like Serena, Venus, Pierce, Davenport, Capriati, Sharapova, Clijsters... It's obviously her kryptonite and she's lucky her era doesn't have many hitters like there were 20 years ago.

However, the most interesting matchup against that era would probably be against Henin which has a very similar game to her.

I was listening to The Tennis Podcast last night and they mentioned how ball striking is different now and there aren't many "line drive" hitters anymore like Ostapenko.

Makes sense...the game is being taught to be "high percentage"...More topspin to create clearance over the net and thus safe shots and less errors.

Ostapenko doesn't do that...She's unplayable when on but her game does have more room for error.

Kind of like Nadal and Djokovic being lucky their era didn't have many heavy hitters like it was 15 years ago

Giorgi the most extreme example of this. She can win or lose 6-0 against anyone

Let's give it up for our new WTA #1 Aryna Sabalenka :blessed: She put in a lot of work to get here and barring any more weird meltdowns this tournament is well within her grasp
