rojer/tecau didn't even get broken once, was a pretty simple straight set victory

now hingis/mirza vs makarova/vesnina

i love wimbledon scheduling in this case. womens final, then both doubles finals. and the mens standalone final on sunday with nothing else. since women's matches are 3 sets and almost always end pretty quickly, you get bang for your buck

and for mens final, pretty sure no one cares about anything else aside from that. or is that sexist to say??? the grief stako has received is hilarious tbh, but you know he doesnt give a fukk

would much rather watch a 50s/60s ranked anonymous mens players thanwomens players, and id LOVE to someone to tell me they enjoy the inverse more. problem is with tennis media, especially in america, its mostly women and gays who are fans of the sport -like that- an unpleasant side effect of following the sport on twitter

Hmm, just saying but maybe it is because crowds love underdogs ?
Serena gets the same treatment Nadal gets at the French for example because he's the huge favorite (well not til this year). Federer being the exception because he's the only player in the world who's at home everywhere.
do you see how Federer contradicts your whole statement though, you couldn't get a more virtuoso individual than fedex. Dude is not only a winner in tennis but life in general. Sponsorships, being multi-lingual, having 2 sets of twins (if I'm not mistaken) was probably privately schooled too. There isn't a more enviable person on tour so to support him is sort of being elitist.

Serena doesn't even get favoured in the US open. The only time I can remember her getting more support than her opponent was against azerenka and I am guessing that is because she was dating a man who could be confused for being mixed (to the untrained eye) and would break dance after her wins in a clumsy attempt to try and endear herself to americans

Ps the crowd also adored henin and clisters too were they underdogs? Come on

I should be used to it but I'm still amazed at how everything revolves around complexions one way or another on the Coli. :ehh:

Uncertain grounds
Top 5 is difficult but I'd have it like this :
1. Roger (off talent and longevity alone (though Connors could have a say in that sector) and obviously 17 slams and a career grand slam)
2. Sampras (a little biased here but 14 slams and GOAT attacking player to me so... + record in seasons ended at #1)
3. Nadal (being the best of the big 4 era (2008/2012) which may be the toughest era ever + Olympics title + career grand slam and 14 slams)
4. Borg (11 slams, 6 French and 5 British and numerous USO finals. Ability to dominate on the two polar opposite surfaces though I don't know why he struggled against Americans at the USO)
5. Laver (calendar grand slams in both amateur and Open era, 11 slams, the kickstarter of the Open Era)

I first put Nadal at 4, Laver at 3 and Borg at 5 but I hadn't factored the competition. Laver didn't really had too much against him imo. Borg and Nadal had crazy competition but I think Nadal faced a harder one at the top and he has more majors and a Olympics title on top of that. Realistically, he should be ranked higher than Sampras at #2 because he's a more complete player than him but let's just say I'm being subjective here :lolbron:

1. Federer
2. Sampras
3. Borg
4. McEnroe
5. Laver

:mjpls:

Because Serena used to berate lines people and throw fits when she lost. Never giving credit to an opponent when they beat her. She did that shyt for YEARS and people haven't forgotten. That's why I can't get behind her even though she's right there with Graf all time.
