This is actually laughable. There's a reason why there are different surfaces in tennis. And because his style/skills-sets might be more suited to certain surfaces than the others, that doesn't make him one dimensional. The same argument can be made against Federer when it comes to the clay surface and we can argue that Djoko is a better all rounder than Federer as well.

If Nadal had Federer's serve - he'd be the on his 27th grandslam win right now. And for a guy to have achieved so much even with all the nagging injuries (something Federer has been lucky with), he is the GOAT. His game may not be aesthetically like Federer's (Gasquet has the most aesthetically pleasing game ever in tennis) but Nadal is up there as one of the most versatile and most skilled tennis players ever. If you have ever played tennis, you'd know the spin he adds to his stroke and shot placement/selection is the best ever.

Respect greatness when you see it. Don't just critique for the sake of it.

Oddly enough. I believe that him missing time throughout his career to deal with injuries actually AIDED him cause he could rest up and come back when ready while others stayed active.

One thing people sleeping on his how Carlos Moya has added little changes to his game that has helped him. Had he kept Uncle Toni, he'd be barely top 10. Moya has him being more aggressive (not saying he still doesn't have times where he reverts back to being a grinder) and that's what he needed in finishing points quicker.

You misunderstand. Great ain't GOAT.

That's all.

Except Fed might be the second greatest clay court player ever, he just happened to play at the same time as Nadal. He'd have five FOs if not for Nadal. Maybe a sixth this year, actually.

I always felt that. At worst, my eyes tell me that he's a top 5 player on clay. And he wasn't just advancing to finals on clay because the field was weak with clay, he was/is actually a VERY great player on clay. Should of beaten Nadal in Rome in 06 and should have been up a set in the 2011 FO Finals if it wasn't for that drop shot. Hell Nadal owes Fed for stopping Novak in 2011 in the semi's at the French.

How many guys besides Nadal have made four straight FO Finals?

Think about Nadal and Novak this decade....

Pete Sampras had 14 career Grand Slams and Novak won FIFTEEN this decade and Rafa won THIRTEEN grand slam titles...in a DECADE.

The Big 3 all have a chance starting next year to win slams in 3 different decades...on multiple surfaces.
Forgot to mention off this that the GOAT won 15 Grand Slams from 2003-09; a seven season span.

Ten straight GS finals, then eight straight GS finals. Woulda been 19 straight GS Finals if not for Novak at the 2008 Aussie. :damn:

23 consecutive GS semifinals appearances (2004 Wimbledon to the 2010 AO) and 36 straight quarters. :mindblown:

It's been so long since Fed's prime that people have forgotten how godly he was at his peak. @MillionMills we still got this. :wow:

I wonder how Roddikk would have been remembered if Fed didn't exist. Fed tortured him and was 8-0 in GS matches against him including a bunch of Finals and SF matches.

shyt think about Murray. It's a miracle he scraped 3 titles cause all his slam final losses were to Novak and Fed, not to mention that stretch from 2010 to 2016 where he only lost to them at the Australian Open :damn:

True. Uncle Toni took him to where he could take and Moya has added bits that have made him more successful on other surfaces, apart from clay.

I’ll never understand why people like to disrespect Nadal’s like the spin he adds to his volleys/strokes is easy to do. If it were that easy, everyone else would’ve copied it by now. There are tons of players that can do everything Federer does, though they aren’t as effective as him. But there’s only one Nadal.

speaking of spin rate...

It’s all about winning and he has only won one. If Nadal was one dimensional, Federer should’ve figured him out by now.

The head to head between Nadal and Federer is 10-4. Nadal vs Federer at the Aussies is 3-1. So you can’t really say it’s clay - Nadal is also better on hard court.

Nadal is winning the next French Open. He’s my favourite to win the Aussies as well.

IDK about the Aussie cause that remains to be seen. Not sure if you know but they're switching the playing surface next year. The court surface is similiar to the ones that are fast and has always given Rafa trouble.

Australian Open 2020 To Revamp Their Surface

GreenSet Worldwide is the new official court surface supplier, for Australian Open. GreetSet will be working with Tennis Australia to create a high-quality court surface for the Australian Open 2020. Also, GreenSet will be working for other events which take place during the Australian summer, which are the new ATP Cup in Brisbane, Perth, Sydney, the new ATP/WTA tournament in Adelaide, Brisbane and Hobart International.

‘The Happy Slam’ will be surfacing a new acrylic hard court surface for the Australian Open 2020. Tennis Australia will be continuing with their 11-year-old traditional of blue coloured Plexicushion or acrylic hard courts for their major tournament.

Australian Open 2020 to get a new surface
“Under GreenSet’s guidance, our cushioned acrylic surface will remain the same, but with a very detailed and intensive installation process designed to achieve the highest quality playing surface at each of the venues. It’s no secret we put the players first in all our planning, and we know how important it is to them that no matter where in Australia they play, they have a great experience on the court,” Craig Tiley added.
