I mean, I get her message but this ain't the way to go about it. Doing press is part of the job. That's not gonna change.

I think she's doing this because she doesn't want to answer questions about her struggles on clay or whether the Tokyo Olympics should be held.
As I said, Fine is expected. Disqualification? With the stupid unfair advantage reasoning?

Bullshyt.

:mjpls: fine is one thing and expected, but disqualification?

Because she's the biggest star in women's tennis and press conferences aren't that big of a deal to do. They're also a big reason she's the highest paid female athlete ever. She's being a child about this.

This is just some Gen Z whining from Osaka. It's part of being a professional athlete to take questions from the media. You can't just cherry pick or pick and choose which parts of the profession you like to do - I mean everyone else is taking part in it as well

Her chalking up "mental health" because the media will ask her about her struggles on clay just reeks of insecurity and weakness

Its no surprise that all the other tennis players who have been asked about this at the French Open pretty much disagree with her stance

Really thought she would win the French, seeds dropping everywhere. Oh well, Wimby and USO await for 6.

She still didn't stand much of a chance, but this tournament would've been good practice for the future. Hopefully this fiasco was not just a learning experience for her, but journalists and tournament holders as well.

Yes. Sometimes the only way to improve on your worse surface is to keep playing, win lose or draw.
