New haircut? yea he got THEE glow now :lupe:

Low key, Carlos could be the best thing to happen to Novak from a fan perspective.

In my opinion, the biggest reason he's never been embraced is because he never had a challenger and he's been running unopposed for over a decade.

Fed had four Slams when Nadal popped up. It took a few years for Rafa to get over the hump outside of Roland Garros but he had the torch by 2008 and had that dominant stretch from 2008-2010. The normal tennis succession from Fed to Nadal.

After that stretch, Novak really broke through in 2011 and has had an iron grip on the sport since then while every fresh face since Andy Murray has proven to be a fraud.

With Fed and Nadal, their runs were supplanted but they were still in the mix and able to get to the mountain top occasionally (excluding the French). They always had lingering health issues as well so it was endearing to fans when they won Slams.

Novak's been an unbreakable machine since 2011 besides that brief spell for a year or two when he was having injury issues himself. He hasn't had to fend anybody off until now.

If Alcaraz beats him in New York, there's gonna be a lot of support for Novak in Australia next year. People will want to see him win again before it's truly over.

I forgot how wild the crowds were when Murray was making his runs at Wimbledon.

A week later: How do y'all rate the Carlitos/Djoker final compared to the all time great Wimbledon (or other Grand Slam) finals?

I know they say grass maintenance is the reason but I wish they'd move Wimbledon back a week or two and give us a grass Masters and a true grass season. They could/should demote the Miami Open from a Masters to a 500 level event and make Queens a Masters 1000 event.

French Open
Halle (500)
Queens (1000)
Eastbourne (500)
a week off
Wimbledon

This. There should definitely me a grass masters. The whole grass 'season' is rushed and players have such little time to adjust and get their games right for it

Wasn't great as only the 2nd set produced good stuff from both players. Fed-Nadal 2, Novak-Fed '19 are my top 2. Fed-Roddikk was pretty dope considering there was what 1 break of serve in the whole match

Yea from all that I've seen...I'd put Fedal 07 & 08, WM19 over it...WM15 was good for the first 2 sets but I think it rained and that messed up the rhythm of the match. I'd say Alcaraz/Djokovic felt big time because of the surprise result, the fact that these are clearly the 2 best players right now, and the possible starting point to an end of an era and the start of a new one. From a technical standpoint...I'd say the 2nd set, the 2-1 game in the 3rd set, and the 5th set were good competitive back and forth tennis between the 2. More than what we got from the previous 2 finals.

i've ALWAYS preferred Wimbledon 07 over Wimbledon 08 tbh.

You do know Novak and Nadal are the same age and have played eachother the most out of anyone else. If anything Novak and Nadal are bigger rivals than Federer and Nadal ever where just that the latter rivalry is more talked about.

You also forgot to mention Novak has had to contend with the greatest pool of talent ever in the mens game during his run. Mans had to play of Nadal, Federer, Murray and then add in guys like Stan whom where tough match ups.

The notion he hasnt had to fend off anyone is silly as he and Nadal racked up 30 slams between them since 2011.
