One of the problems with the current top 20 is guys like Shelton can come in with a relatively underdeveloped game and still pick off a ton of wins against them. The problems is you're not beating Carlos or Novak without a complete game especially in a grand slam. The rest of those guys won't force guys like Ben to properly develop cause they're already getting beaten by Ben.

Yeah I can def see that; outside of Med there are no Pat Rafter/Kafelnikov level players rn, it falls off to guys that are gatekeepers at best or straight up toothless bums

We'll see if he wants to be great next year. There should be noticeable improvements in his game by next US Open.
