One of the biggest keys to me for Carlos winning was holding his serve and forcing tiebreaks in the 3rd & 4th set. Gave him just the extra bit more time to recover.

As for Novak winning. To me coming in fresher absolutely helped but to me, Sinner’s game while very good is also predictable. So when he’s having an off day against a really good player, the cracks are more evident.

I hope Djokovic calls it quits if he wins on Sunday

He should go out on top like Sampras and not sad like Federer and Nadal

If he wins Sunday he's going into every major with the highest of confidence. Sinner was always the one he struggled with and stopped him from getting to 2 finals last year but now he has got a win on him it will make Wimbledon and US open more interesting. Is there a way we have Carlos and Sinner face off in semis if Novak wins this and a few other tournaments or are they both waaaay ahead with their points?

Also Novak not losing his cool at any point. When he does he can't get it back quick enough against the likes of Sinner. He has to keep his emotions in check and he did.

I can't remember if it was Querrey or Blake who said during an Alcaraz match something along the lines of: he doesn't have a plan when he goes out there. Just kinda makes it up as he goes along; whatever he feels like in the moment because he has so many options.

This has been the perfect storm for Novak. He's basically had a one week major so the wear and tear isn't even close to what it normally would be. When they announced he'd won his first set since Saturday...:heh:

Alcaraz will have cramping/injury issues around him heading into the match. I think he'll be extremely focused after what happened in Australia last year against Novak. If he doesn't have any body issues, I expect him to win pretty convincingly.

Sinner was 2/18 on break points in the semis. I just can't see Alcaraz performing that poorly.

Sabalenka has perhaps the biggest bozo gene in the women's game

For someone as talented as she is her GS finals record is poor and she never wins finals convincingly

Way too up and down, her mental is questionable

Congrats to Rybakina

Shes not that talented.
No variety in her game
Strong serve and end the point as quickly as possible.
Rybakina has the same style tho.
Boring final, as expected, but im glad Saba lost

I like watching Sabalenka play because she's usually aggressive and has power but she also beats herself due to this. She needs to still add a bit more touch to her game.

Its funny to me how the men tend to be pushers and the women tend to just hit the ball as hard as possible.

Lenka can be beaten, and this is how. Go shot for shot with her and make her think or make her blink and she did both just enough to lose.

8/10 net points for lenka.. 10/15 for rybakina :manny:

I agree on the lack of variety but In truth there's hardly much variety in the women's game especially the top players

For most it's based on a power game and that's what I mean by talent, she's fully capable of taking the racket out of anyone's hand with ground strokes off of both wings and also has an excellent serve. On the women’s tour that’s top end talent. Her moment isn't the best but its good enough when supplemented with her baseline ability, return is also good enough whist not being so consistent

It wouldn't hurt these players to utilise the slice, drop shot even change it up on serve with serve and volley, kick serve and body serve etc. I'd like to see more skilled players come through but the women’s game is at a place where players like Sabalenka will dominate simply because of the ability to physically bully the opposition with their power game and therefore they don't have the desire to develop and use more variety. I used to appreciate Barty's well rounded game and other players like Radwańska for example.

It's one of the reasons why the women's game will never really compare to the men's.
