@ brehs not digging the lead's acting. she's playing her role very well (one of my homegirl's sons has asperger's. its offputting at first, then you realize they can't help it.) show hasn't hit me like the americans but i'll be hooked nonetheless.

Not only that, just because she plays it well, it doesn't mean folks should like it.

Plenty of characters play a role to a TEE. And some of those mothafukkas are annoying

Carrie's bipolar. She can act "normal" at times, especially when she's medicated.

It's not the same with Asperger's, especially when it's undiagnosed. There's no treatment. Even if she was getting behavioral therapy, her tics would still gonna be there most of the time.

BTW, the creator of this show was one of the most prominent writers on Homeland. Hence the similarities.

bytch lacks understanding of basic emotions and actions of people so how the fukk did she even make detective and how can she solve crimes

First of all, considering that they said El Paso only has around 5 homicides a year, I imagine most of her job is inside doing paperwork. She could never getting away with it working in a major PD like NYC or Chicago (she could never keep a CI, for example. Probably doesn't need one in El Paso). She's not completely retarded. She can detect emotion (that's why she apologized to the grieving husband in the pilot that she failed to show enough empathy) and she doesn't get sidetracked by irrelevant topics or issues when others require her attention, which is actually a usual feature of people with Asperger's (like Sheldon on Big Bang Theory).

She's there because she's the most dedicated person in the office. She's got no social life other than fukking random strangers. No friends, no family, and she takes her work home with her every night. Add to the fact that she's strictly by the book, and she's a police chief's dream employee.

Why would anyone in the office care that she reported a Mexican police officer? Marco's brought it up twice with her, and I think he can see that she just can't empathize so he's goes easy on her.

She can detect emotion (that's why she apologized to the grieving husband in the pilot that she failed to show enough empathy) and she doesn't get sidetracked by irrelevant topics or issues when others require her attention, which is actually a usual feature of people with Asperger's (like Sheldon on Big Bang Theory).

The show continues to get better outside of the killer storyline which is just okay...they said originally they'd hoped to make this more like The Wire where the crime element is just a vehicle to get to know the people of Baltimore with the city being the real main character and story...those are big goals...so we'll see where this goes after this serial killer angle is done...because there's still big time potential here...I'm just bored by all of the serial killer tropes on tv these days.
