What the thack did I just watch?!

Before I get to the good, let me just say that Henry's heel turn was laughably corny. Dude turned 'Muahahahaa!' evil in seconds, then Lucy the bytch witch came in right after it for that evil "power couple" shot.

Thackery's story though. Dude was further gone than anyone could've imagined. The moment he said he was going to do the surgery himself I was like 'wait, what?'

Again a subtle link with Thackery's death being similar to Christensen's in the sense they both committed "suicide" because they couldn't deal with losses, Christensen because his risk taking only lead to more failures, Thackery because he couldn't stop pushing himself to taking more (increasingly dangerous) risks.

Barrow is pretty much fukked right now. His whore girlfriend owns all his money and properties now and he either has syphilis or radiation cancer. Karma's a motherfukker.

Cleary and Harriet are finally together. Happy ending for someone at least.

Algernon making headway into psychology now that his career as a surgeon is pretty much fukked, while Gallinger is off to Europe to teach the future fascists about ignorance.

Great season finale, really hope it's not the series finale because there's still a lot left open.

And overall it was a great season, some of developments fell too much into drama tropes for my liking (the random-ass Opal introduction to separate Algernon from Cornelia killing their story completely, Henry's heel turn with last episode's fire execution). Some things just felt a bit more forced where the first season just felt natural and real.

‘The Knick’: Cinemax Orders Script for Season 3 Premiere (EXCLUSIVE)

SPOILER ALERT: Do not read ahead if you have not watched the Season 2 finale of “The Knick,” which aired Friday, Dec. 18.

“The Knick” ended its second season with a shocker: Clive Owen’s Dr. Thackery seemingly died on the table, after a botched attempt to perform surgery on himself. When asked if the character is dead,Owen told Variety, “It certainly looks that way.”

So, does Dr. Thackery’s apparent death mean the same for the series, too?

While a decision for a renewal is still undetermined, a third season of “The Knick” is under consideration and negotiations are underway. Insiders close to the show tell Variety that a script for the season premiere has been ordered, in addition to a season outline. Series creators Michael Begler and Jack Amiel are both set to return as exec producers and writers, should Cinemax order up season 3. Cinemax declined to comment.

“Cinemax has been in conversations with Steven Soderbergh on how we might continue with ‘The Knick,'” Cinemax says in a statement. “When first conceived, the series was always meant to be presented in a two-year story arc, and Steven has been meeting with the writers to discuss how to proceed.”

With the script and season outline ordered, it appears Cinemax is exploring ideas for the series’ future, deciding if continuing the story is feasible with major plot changes — such as, perhaps, a major character’s absence.

Owen told Variety he always intended to do just two seasons, which is the amount of time he signed on for. Sources say no decisions have been made regarding returning talent for another season.

Regardless of “The Knick’s” future, Soderbergh is still in business with the HBO family, as he’s set up a mystery project at HBO, titled “Mosaic,” starring Sharon Stone and Garrett Hedlund. The project is described as a highly interactive “choose your own adventure,” in which viewers have the option of seeing the story play out in different ways. His jam-packed TV slate also includes Starz’s upcoming adaptation of “The Girlfriend Experience.”

I can't imagine the immense rage Algernon must feel to be so damn good at what he does and know he'll never get respect. And to have to look at his father that way? It's heart breaking as a black man. Should be heart breaking for any man.

And that last surgery/suicide seen was crazy. These people and that world is so damn broken. I'd do exactly what Cornelia did and just leave.

MY GOD. In a great year in TV, this may have been the best single episode of any show. I can't believe they basically just committed a surprise TV series suicide bombing in front of a whole audience, like Thack himself. Once they got to the point where Gallinger was basically founding the German Nazi party, I knew they had gone way past the point of no return and blowing EVERTHING up.

doesn't even come close to expressing it.


It's probably too soon to say this, but the shock of it all has me thinking that this might be the all time greatest series finale.

Don't know what to make of this. Sounds like Owen is done with the show at least but we might get some new iteration of The Knick. Maybe a time jump or something? If Soderbergh is out as well I wonder if they'd go the route of getting a big name director to do all the episodes again.

I think the only way they could "continue" it would be to go the Fargo route and make essentially a totally new show set in the same universe.

Its possible I'm overrating it, but that was my initial reaction because of the enormous shock value. For me, the only episode close to this shocking was the last 2nd-to-last episode of the first season of "Game of Thrones".

Henry was a little over the top evil, but I can forgive that. I don't have any problem at all with how they handled Cleary and Harriet.

I've never seen The Leftovers, I've been meaning to start watching it. As for Hannibal, I would say that overall that was a better SHOW than The Knick. However, the Hannibal *finale* itself was part remake of a story we've seen done two times before, part telegraphed suicidal twisted "love" story, and you have to admit the post-credit scene was a little silly. Comparing just those two episodes, I would go with The Knick.

Whenever a show ends a season with a main character sailing away from the primary set location on a boat, the feeling you have really lets you know what tier of show it is.

With the Knick, I felt like "Okay, thats it. Its over."

But with Game of Thrones, when they ended that season awhile back with Arya on the ship you have a feeling of "We have only just begun."

And I like both shows, but a show like this is of a scale where when a person gets too far from the main setpiece you feel like they are gone as opposed to a feeling of 'where are they going?' Not a bad thing, just something to reflect on.



If they do a season 3 it should start with a cold open of the nun's middle age titties flapping back and forth as she is getting done doggystyle my the ambulance dude. That would let you know exactly how much time has passed without having to say anything, and would catch everyone by surprise.
Just her titties flapping, then a slow zoom out so you see its her and him, then the black screen that says THE KNICK.
