Need to see more races from her when she has race rhythm and form behind her at intense competition level. That was her first 800 in a year.

But I’ve always wondered what happens to these athletes that have very short careers.. how do they eat? Do they transition to normal 9-5s? Become coaches?

For US/Collegiate/University athletes I guess it depends on what kind of degree they were doing at college. Was it a BS one to just concentrate on sports or was it a real one.
Take Laura Muir she is a qualified veterinary surgeon.
But yes Coaching is the natural progression. Probably easier to do in America due to the competitive nature of High School and College sports. Many become PT's. Daley Thompson was a fitness trainer post career with Wimbledon (Crazy Gang Fashanu Vinnie Jones era)
