you have to wonder how much change/modification is acceptable....

Is the end goal of this immortality? What do people who say that we need population control think of this?

I can see us seeking new medical advances.. but combining our brains with computer chips, reconfiguring what it means to be human... imo is the moral gray area.

This is based in science fiction and is there something wrong with our natural evolution or is does our complex brain and consciousness warrant this being part of our evolution as a species?

I know it's coming, but I don't know about this, hopefully we're not forced to be "enhanced" in the coming years.

Its so demonic, friends. The human body has yet to to become fully accustomed to the effects technology has on it before we replace it with something new.

Yep. itll be like Gundam or Deus Ex. The augmented and advanced people will be the ubermensch, and the less advanced and naturals will be like 2nd class citizens.

:damn:

in all honesty i see that as a huge threat to the well being of 99% of the Earths population. obviously we're a few hundred years away from the there but for billionaire families it may be only a generation or 2 away. as cool of an innovation this is, im glad im living right now.

in my lifetime i hope to see us cure biological/genetic diseases that have plagued humanity, a supercomputer powerful enough to hold an intelligent conversation (maybe even female sex robots :noah:), and commercial space flight. but im scared for the world my children/grandchildren will grow up in. i feel as if technology will be so integral that as we become closer and closer it maybe integrated into humans to the point that we lose our connection to the what it means to be human.

this is already happening imo but i wont get into that. i just dont want to see people become robots is basically what im saying. im sure the day will come when there are robots walking around like the movie i, robot. but i just hope human beings and technology keep some distance from each other.

The real danger is actually in WEAKENING humanity with this technology. While humanity may gain some enhancements, continually merging humankind with machinery could eventually make humans dependent on machines as our bodies start to adapt and stop doing the functions that the machines now do.

I don't know where both of you stand on evolution, but others, they see it as less of a danger of becoming less human, but redefining what a human is. They think the next progress of human evolution is through artificial selection in which we move what makes "us" into machines. It's a Ghost in The Machine type of thing. It's basically a form of Christian dogma-like stance, where the soul is the important component and the body is just flesh.

Don't know if I'm in that camp to be honest with either of you. I think there is beauty and meaning to "the flesh".

Either that went over my head, or our excess use of technology could transform us into Xmen mutant or Angelina Jolie Wanted types. :mindblown:
