Yes, because nearly dying twice and having about ten feet of your intestine removed would do nothing to your ability to fight.
Won the UFC title in his fourth fight ever, defended it through life threatening illness, and is the biggest PPV draw in MMA history (and only three Boxing buyrates are above the UFC 100 buyrate that he headlined).
He may not have reached his full potential, but in no sense was Lesnar overrated.
i wonder if this forces shogun to retire or go down to 185
i can never understand a guy who works out for a living can look so soft
instead of getting fat between fights he should stay in shape but at this point he maybe be 31 but his body is 45. his knees are gone and so are his kicksI doubt we ever see Shogun at 185. He's nearing the end of his career and you can tell he wants to fight at the class he's most comfortable in. Plus, he's around 220 pounds, a cut to 185 would be tough.
he's only 31 but has been through too many warsno way shogun can get down to 185. this old nikkas knees cant even make it through a 3 mile run.![]()
As a fighter, he was overrated. Not saying he wasn't a great fighter or anything. But, Cain, JDS, Cormier, and Werdum would all beat a healthy Lesnar. The first two would demolish him. Fighters like Overeem and Barnett would have a 50/50 chance at a healthy Lesnar.
And he was gifted a title shot.
Reem wasn't on roids when they fought. He was a skinny 205 pounder who would constantly gas 15 seconds into the fight.win or lose I stand up and applaud Shogun for the many wars in Pride and some in UFC he has provided throughout his years. Few fighters came into Pride and went on a run like him. He beat Reem while he was on roids which many ppl can say they've done.
Sadly, those Pride wars have taken their toll on his body, i doubt he has any give in either of his knees, he probably bone on bone by now. And i can't remember who but sum1 from the coli last year said he best, the strength of his style of fighting is just not possible in the UFC with these rules. He had some of the most vicious soccer kicks I've ever seen in MMA. But these unified mma rules that ufc follows just caters to wrestler's and ground and pound more.
Looking back at Pride, and how many fights were wars, and just simply amazing, I use to think it was just the quality of the fighters by the chinese mafia pay offs for guys to go for knock outs, but really it was the rules and length of rounds. It jus lead to some of the best fights ever. I don't think Shogun isstatus, I just think with the rules and caliper of wrestlers he's been stuck fighting, it doesnt cater to his style.
Johnson's beating the shyt out of Lauzon...
...you'd have thought Joe burned on cross on that man's lawn or some shyt.<--(Keeping with the Boston theme)
this nikka got a bottle of vaseline on his face lol
Johnson was mean as fukk in that first fight. Gave Lauzon the bully treatment for 15 minutes. Disappointed with that Overreem loss cause I was sure he had it. I wonder if it's arrogance that keeps him from winning or is he just not that good.
Chael vs Rua was looking like a fun grappling match really entertaining and wish it would've been longer. First time in a while watching UFC sober and it was way more interesting.
No, the ref was a jerk- Anybody else would have stopped the fight when Brown was getting pounded. Why didnt he give Overeem a minute to recover?
Dana knows it was a BS gift - I hope Brown gets destroyed by the next person he fights
Not sure what happened to Lauzon- its like he didnt even try
