I really don't understand why people get mad at this show every year. It has been a terribly put together series of advertisements and trailers for ten years now. It should just be expected at this point.

Although Joel McHale low-key roasting those guys frm TellTale over their seeming lack of knowledge on Game of Thrones was great.

How does GTA win game of the year but not best xbox game or Rockstar not winning studio of the year?
It's the best game of the year but not the best xbox game and the studio that made the best game isn't the best studio? Too much spreading around in what amounts to a giant overproduced commercial.

They could have done a normal Bonus Round and made these announcements.

well it would be kind of boring if the GOTY winner took all other categories by default, but I agree categories like "best studio" are kinda silly and redundant

they could come up with categories that don't seemingly infringe upon each other like. best exclusive title. most surprising studio. best new IP. best new studio.

when you tell me GTA V is the best game this year then you limit the selection to only games that came out on Xbox 360 then GTA is a game and its on Xbox so it should still win. now if you limit the criteria to something that excludes GTA purposely that's different.

I think the 'studio' thing is just kinda redundant in general, because those studios are just gonna be judged by their games anyway. and like you pointed out before, it's just weird if they don't line up

in general this award show just seems like the typical BET/MTV type awards, where a few people sat around and figured out who they think should win. as opposed to things like The Oscars that actually poll 5000+ judges

its a giant commercial and they have to spread the promotion around. I mean they have to bait people into watching it by promising to show never before seen trailers (which are basically commercials) so its not a serious award show anyway.
