I watched alot of vids of that same bird years ago.
There is one video where it gets bored and starts answering questions wrong on purpose.

They'll put a red block in front of it and it would say blue. Then they would put a blue block in front of it and it would say red, on purpose cause it was frustrated that they kept asking it stupid questions so it was rebelling.

Very fascinating stuff.

Elephants, and Octopus have also been known to have the basic understanding of at least a 5 year old as well.

But some hypothesize that an adult whale has the mental capacity of an adult human. The language skill alone in orcas is incredibly advance. They are known to actually pick up human language and understand instructor conversation in captivity. Some even try and speak english, but their vocal chords are different so it sounds weird. Understand, I don't mean people are trying to teach whales to speak english. I mean people are speaking english around the whale and after awhile the whale will not only understand you, but try and speak back to you using english. They lower their vocal octaves to around where human vocal range is. Whales never use this range amongst themselves. Its the equivilant of you trying to howl to communicate with a dog. You can't quite match the pitch and have no idea what you are saying in 'dog' but the dogs howl back because it is evident you are trying to communicate with them since the range and pitch of a canine howl is completely out of the range of regular himan speech. Thats what whales will do. They will try and alter their vocals to reach human range but they can't qute do it.

the limits humans put on the intelligence of animals is astoundingly arrogant

why dont we all try and speak the language of a parrot and see if we are as smart to them as that parrot was to us

our "intelligence" is really just complexity disguised via an inferiority complex and overall sense of fear. we're so intelligent but we continuously destroy things around us for no reason and have strayed way too far away from what life is supposed to be.

if i had trillies id devote damn near all of it to protect as many animals as i could

next thing we know were gonna be 70/80+ years old telling our grand-kids about how majestic tigers were before they went extinct. we suck
