The only thing last gen had going for it was prettier graphics and faster gameplay

Other than that i feel as tho the ps2/XB era was the last great gaming gen in regards to innovation, and creativity....what i mean is that that gen we basically saw every variation a developer can take in regards to making a game...that is why i believe last gen lacked new and truly unique gameplay experiences and we'll all be stuck playing games with the same gameplay mechanics we've already experienced for years to come....

IMO this is all the consumers fault and not the devs. They are simply making games that consumer want. Why wouldn't devs make COD infinity when it sells a million units in one week. And why innovate or be creative when sequels are making three times as money compared to new IP's.

The internet is also partially to blame. You go on message boards and forums and all people argue about is comparison between games and which game looks better. Rarely you see deep discussion on gameplay and mechanics. This forum isn't any different. Every thread that gets made, posters immediately criticize the graphics and how come you can't see a character's eyelash.

PS2/Xbox gen is like Assassin's Creed 2 while last gen is Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. Just the same but on steroids.
