man, played this shyt all the time as a kid in the computer lab. never could get to the end, cuz I would always run out of town. so if I didn't make my wagon go at a grueling pace, there was no chance I'd make it to the end. however, when I go at a grueling pace, my people keep getting dysentary and smallpox and dying

Goddamn this thread picked up. I found out later MECC, I think it was the company, not only made the Oregon Trail but they also made a Slavery game where you try to escape the south with the Railroad using ebonics

The game met a mixed reception; some educators found it valuable while others found it racially offensive due to its use of stereotyped speech by slave characters.

In 1993, a group of offended parents sued a school which had provided the game to students and MECC, the developer. The game was pulled off the market as a result.

Players choose one of two characters. The male character was typically illiterate; written signs and notes appeared onscreen as indecipherable symbols. The male character receives a pass from his slavemaster in order to escape to the North. The female character is sometimes able to read and write, and is able to forge a pass in order to run, in addition to asking for a pass. Players attempt to avoid slavecatchers, who may or may not perceive their character's pass as legitimate.

Better believe I made it to Oregon! Hunting was the sh!t though, once I discovered that I basically stopped attempting to even go anywhere and just assassinated as much animal as I could... I knew I was wasting it but it was always hilarious to me to kill 358 tons of meat and only to take 200 pounds on the wagon.

While we're at it, anyone ever play Number Munchers or Odell Lake?? Those were great games also.

We used to have Oregon trail competitions, shyt was too fun

Mafukkas was breaking their legs randomly and shyt like "How the fukk are you breaking your leg, you're not walking!"
