Because they blantantly omit comedies, acting as if comedy doesn't exist...however when it's time to select a host, it's "let's look at the list of comedians." As a comedian, you will never be acknowledged for a comedic role by the Academy, but there's a slight chance thhat you can host. Hence, "irony."

I'm not defending the Academy but a comedian hosting the oscars is appropriate because to them comedy's place is in, lighthearted brainless affairs such as hosting. IMO it only adds to the insult. Plus, in the past, they've tried to remove comedians from hosting altogether



I don't think the Academy should be going anywhere near judging comedy as an art. It'll only encourage more of those coming of age Sundance dramadys.

Comedy as an art should only be judged by comedians, comedic actors, comedic writers, etc.

Loved the book but it didn't translate well to film. It was a very hollow film to me at least. Might be because I read the book though. I can't tell
