I was in the live-posting threads for the Golden Globes, Critics' Choice Awards, & NAACP Image Awards. But I ain't look forward to this. It's the most uptight of all the Award shows & like I complained last year, most of the movies that get love at Oscars are movies nobody would care about if they weren't get Oscar love.
I mean yes and no. There are definitely flicks that I know a mass audience won't care about but we're talking about the film room audience which has divergent tastes and we all love film period. So while spotlight or the Martian or the big short may not mean much to you or even a large audience, it's about our clientele. And our clientele very much gives a shyt. I used to work in journalism and I love journalism movies so I was going to see spotlight regardless
"The Martian" is a big budget Sci-Fi movie (based on a best-selling Sci-Fi Novel) with a diverse all-star cast & crew. Folks were gonna watch that regardless if it got Oscar love or not. It's 1 of the few movies getting Oscar love that I actually care to watch.

I'm behind on New Releases. But just going over the best picture nominations in the link in the OP, I've seen "Mad Max" & "The Martian". I plan on seeing "The Revenant". And I haven't decided if I want to watch "The Big Short" & "Spotlight" yet.
