So the secret to enjoying baseball is to not really pay attention to it, lest you be bored to tears...but to occasionally take a gander at what's going on, while doing other actually more enjoyable and stimulating activities

Why check in on a sport you hate?
You have to be able to run as an outfielder or baserunner. Speed is a necessity, so how is it not a sport? You have to have strength as a hitter to hit the ball 400+ plus feet. You have to have arm strength to play outfield or be a pitcher.
When do you run in golf or bowling? When do you need to be fast?

It was such a big deal over here that the interest in the Subway series has dropped significantly. I watched baseball as a kid when the Mets were gettin busy in the 80's. But back then Sports was a go to, because you didn't have internet, online gaming, dvd's, and 500 cable chans.
Baseball is just not keeping up with a fast twitch world, or atleast not being dramatic enough to garner interests. The thrill of football,and Basketball are the subplots that also garner attention.

The Subway Series became less interesting for 3 reasons
1. We already saw a Subway Series. The overkill after that is bad enough, but we already saw it.
2. The Yankees gain nothing either way. That's why they can't stand it. If they win, they were supposed to. If they lose, mayhem, which leads to #3 .
3. Until this year, we beat their asses routinely in the Subway Series.

Im not a baseball hater in any way, but for me it IS one of the worst sports to watch on tv when blazed, thats for sure. unless my squad is playin. even then its just hard to pay attention in between pitches

Ask Tony Gwynn if all he was trying to do was hit it as hard as he can. Hitters try to hit it where they ain't. They aim when they hit. There's nuance to it. Don't talk about a sport you know nothing about.

At least in cricket, there are a variety of ways the game is played 1) short version (25 overs) 2) Medium version (50 overs) and 3) Long version (5 day test match)...
There are various ways you can strike the ball, all kinds of foot and wrist work...A good cricketer can hit a six "home run" by just flicking his wrists...You don't need to necessarily swing with all your might...
There are various ways you can bowl, fast, medium, slow...A bowler can use the pitch and various grips of the ball to make it swing and do all kinds of things...
A good fielder can hit the wickets from far way, and catch a ball coming at him at 100 miles/hour with no gloves...Just bare hands...
Cricket has just WAY MORE STYLES than baseball...
