Not even that...In the past 50 years a team that had their PG lead them in FGA has won the NBA title 4 times...I recognize the game has evolved, but expecting a dude thats 6'2" 190 to carry your team to 16 wins every spring only happens in college..Westbrook, Curry, Rose, Kyrie, Paul, Wall, Rondo, Rubio have all spent too much time on the IR the past 2 years to depend for a title run...Most of these PG's are as dependable as run first QB's in the NFL from a health perspective...

There's a reason that Chalmers vs George Hill has been the ECF PG matchup the past two seasons, while the dudes with all the commercials and all star patches are sitting home watching with us...The other pieces around the PG are almost always more valuable...

Westbrook has never been injured in his career until Beverly messed his knee up. Dude is durable and had to have a freak injury keep him out.

Wall played all 82 games this year. He played all 66 games in the lockout season two years ago. He had a freak injury last year that kept him out for 33 games and his rookie season he was adjusting to the league at 19-20 years old.

CP3 has nagging injuries and its probably due to his conditioning and his flopping.

Rose, Kyrie, and Curry are legit question marks IMO when it comes to health and staying on the court. Curry's gotten better but that ankle is always in the back of your mind.

I do question if you can win a 'ship with a PG being your best player.

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
 not wit doc as coach & they played 18-20 games without paul and had no problem scoring.

dikkride "pg's" who shoot 12-32,9-29,8-27 and hate on pg's who put up 22 and 12 apg and had 36 assists and 1 turnover in a 3 game streak whose teams collapses offensively every time he's out the game

They had no trouble in those games he missed, and then he came back like the succubus that he is and started running those Dribble Dribble sets and taking them out of the continuity they had built without him.

Too much emphasis put on making teammates better. How can I make them better if they already sorry? You can't make Perkins better. You can't make Thabo better. So if my PG had to put up 30 to insure a win then fine by me.

You can make them more "effective" if you have a pass first PG or PG in general who understands how, when, and where to give certain offensive liability players the ball at on offense

I always get in arguments with my boys over this.

Then it always turns into a Kyrie vs. Wall argument.

Im taking a scoring PG over a pass first PG anyday. Thats just me though. I cant have a PG where hes at the top of the key and the defender is at the FT line defending him.

My mentality comes down to this..

Pass first PG's are fun to play with... Shoot first PG's are fun to watch..

NETHIER one of them are really catalysts for winning in the NBA when it really counts... The position in itself is extremely overrated...

Just think about it.. PG is the only position in the recent past that has handed out league MVP's to a player that has never made it to the Finals.. (Nash and Rose)...That doesn't happen with any other position..It's mind boggling to me...

Scoring PG's are much better, while he can score I don't view Dribble Dribble as a scoring PG, he handles the ball entirely too much. You compare his touches per game vs Lillard, Curry, Parker and he's touching the ball 20-30 times more than them. He has the ball entirely too much, entirely too long and isn't as decisive as them on whether he's going to score or not, they simply react to the defense and go for buckets.

Too be honest though its like the rb positon in a way that youre better off having superstars at another position and just a solid hold the fort down guy there i cant think of a team outside of Isiah that won a title with its pg as its best player in a salary cap league i dont want to put max money into that psotion

I know peopl ewil say Parker but lets be honest hes not winning titles if hes not playing with Duncan

PG x MD
I kind of side with @gator_king. You guys argue which is better when it simply doesn't matter. What we do know is having your PG as your #1 option is pretty much an auto L. By default a pass first PG might be better than score-first b/c at least you know you need to get a true #1 scoring option on the team.

Why didn't they have any trouble if he makes them become dependent on him? What team isn't dependent on a PG?

A PG comes to me and asks for a max contract, I'm breaking out the tape measurer to see if he's taller than 6'3".

They just aren't worth it, with the exception of the once in a lifetime dude that is tall as hell for the position.

Breh you know what Heat and Lakers fans have in common? In the past decade, 5 championship rings and 8 total Finals appearences between them without 1 starting PG making an All Star appearence...

And this is with two totally different types of offenses (the Triangle and the Spread Pace and Space Motion)

If you want to go back a decade earlier when Chicago and Houston won 5 rings in 10 years the pattern is identical..

If your point guard is your highest paid player or the focal point of your offense its pretty much a recipe for mediocrity...

This year is the 1st time I realized that Chris Paul will never win playing the way he plays.

He's a little more controlled than he was under Vinny, but you still can't have dedicated possessions where the PG is going dribble the shot clock down and take a low % shot no matter what. More often than not when he misses they don't get the rebound.

To me someone like Lillard does the best job of the new crop.

This guy gets it.

Take a long look at the list of nba champions over the last 20 years, brehs. See how many of those teams had a point guard as their no.1 option. Even their no. 2 option.
