My building brehs. Is thermal grizzly still considered the best compound?

I just replaced my OG 60GB PS3 and it is about to go through an extensive refurbishment process and has to have the very best across the board to try to make it last for another 10+ years. I have MX-4 right now and considering that I am doing a complete gut job in terms of replacing parts and a reball a extra few dollars on thermal paste isn't going to hurt.

ive generally never really strayed from arctic silver although from what i can tell, they all perform within a degree or two within eachother tbh.

The Vive is $100 off on Black Friday and Cyber Monday ($700 total). It's officially the cheapest VR headset for PC (when you consider the $600 Rift and its $200 controllers)

I have been using MX-4 for a while, but always try to aim for the best whenever possible. Apparently thermal grizzly is a bit tough to apply? I can't imagine what could possibly be the problem. Since the PS3 sounds like a jet engine I want to try to get it as quiet as possible. if it is cooling it enough that I don't hear the fan go to the highest level I can possibly hold off on reballing it for a while.

Just ordered my parts. Joining the gang pretty soon. :birdman:

Went with a $500 build to get my feet wet. Figured I'd be able to hit 1080 ~60 fps with this and work myself up. I'll be looking to be in the 4k club by this time next year.

Ordered one of my hard drives last night. Samsung ssd 500gb. Amazon had them on sale. Think newegg had them too. Was happy but then I started looking at graphics cards this morning and changed from a 1070 to a 1080 and the build price went up. The 1070 was fine but figured might as well go big or go home if I plan on doing this. The 1080 looked decent enough compared to the titan. They both had 4k and vr, but I prolly won't get into vr until the summer if it's still popping. Looking to see which parts to buy next.

Anything I have to consider as far as buying gaps? I don't want anything getting ruined if i have to wait another few weeks or month to get the last part. I will keep everything in its original packaging anyways so not like it'll be exposed or in extreme weather. Just not trying to put too much debt into my credit card at one time or dip into my savings too much. I think I'll get the graphics card last, during Christmas time, unless i see a sale on cyber Monday or that's worth it.

anyone know of a good deal on a 1070? and a nice cheap monitor ?

I don't have much experience with monitors, but I recommend spending a little more and getting a G-Sync monitor. Especially if you're going to be using a GTX 1070.
