Or just the form factor speed and type matter?


Been on 8GBs for too long and I got 3 slots left, about to double it now

it's best to use the same exact ram. you want them to have the same cas latency, timings, and voltage. and preferably the same speed

to be clear, it will probably work if you don't match all these things, but it won't be optimal, and it could be unstable

I don't think Task Manager gives you enough info. you'll need to use a 3rd party program like this:

PassMark RAMMon - Identify RAM type, speed & memory timings

or just open it up and look
