i only started buying Nvidia cards during the 9 series lineup. It's like this in any market. The higher the quality the card is, the higher the price should be. AMD clearly dropped the ball now for 2 generations and now Nvidia has the right to price their cards higher than usually.

If mercedes makes a better car product than bmw, I expect the mercedes to cost more.

All consumer base do this with better products.

Base prices are still higher than it's competitor because it still has better quality. E class base are higher than 5 series base.

I agree 1200 for 2080 ti is stupid and crazy and unjustifiable but 1000 dollars with it's main competition - AMD lacking in this market and the only real market for it is 4K high refresh rate gaming - makes sense. I'd be stupid to think Nvidia is pricing their 4K 144hz monitor for 2K and believe their gpu would cost less. If these cards can't perform like they are saying, I'll agree with you guys but if they are doing the numbers Nvidia is providing, they are priced right for the market right now. They are suppose to be releasing 3440x1440 200hz monitors soon too.

Everyone right now should really show them, that they aren't dealing with this shyt and buy used cards.

Intel might be going down a bad path ... they're restricting any benchmarking on an upcoming security patch. There's obviously a substantial performance hit on the horizon across the board, but I think users at this point are OK with it for the sake of security ... going the "gag order" route has people talking.

So I'm looking into buying a monitor and I noticed the "gaming monitors" are mostly 1920X1080p 144hz and under 4ms response time. wouldn't a 1440p monitor in theory be better? why would I buy a 1080p monitor in 2018? and is there any point in buying a 4k monitor if its only 27-34 inches?

basically what monitors yall recommend, I don't play FPS so I really don't care about response time and all of that

1080p, 144hz is easier to run than 1440p, 144hz.

I have a 32" 1440p, 144hz , g-sync, LG gaming monitor, and a 32" 4K, 60hz g-sync Acer Predator monitor. Running 1440p at 144hz is just as difficult as running 4K 60hz. You need monster cards to play either way at ultra settings. I have 2 Titan X Pascals and I still run into trouble on some games (like Assassin's Creed Origins). I preorderes two 2080tis too to run my shyt at ultra.

Oh, and 32" monitors placed on a computer desk are very large...almost too large. I have my 1440p right next to my 4K, and you can tell the difference between 1440p and 4K pretty easily. You can also tell the difference between 144hz and 60hz. I have them side by side on a big computer desk, so I can easily see differences.

If you just have mid-level cards, go with the 1440p, 144hz monitors. If you have low-level cards, go with the 1080p, 144hz. If you have enthusiast cards, you can go 4K 60hz. 4K, 144hz is not really possible at the moment, and those monitors cost more than the 4k and 1440p g-sync combined.

so right now I'm running a 1080 with 16gb of ram, amd 8 core (about to upgrade to the r7) so I should go with 1440 144hz? but don't expect to play far cry 5 at ultra settings? And you are saying I will notice the difference between 1080p at 60hz and 1080p at 144hz?

Yes, you will definitely notice a difference between 60hz and 144hz....definitely. The 1440p, 144hz is probably your best bet. The 1080 should be able to push it at like medium/high with low levels of AA. And if you upgrade to the new 20xx series cards, you'll still have some room to grow with the 1440p monitor. 4K, 144hz is not really tenable at the moment (it's like $2K at 27", while you can get a 32", 144hz, g-sync for like $800. And much cheaper for a 1080p, 144hz).

yeah try to see if you can find a IPS or VA panel monitor. Don't get a TN panel monitor.

Yeah, it’s a different ballgame. I like Acer Predators a lot, but some people, like @MMA Mo, prefer ASUS monitors.

Don’t get a TN panel though (like the one you linked above). TN is trash. Go for VA or IPS panels. They cost more, but the quality is worth it in my opinion. I cheaped out on a Dell 144hz 1440p TN panel and I was disgusted with it. I returned it and picked up the LG VA 1440p, 144hz g-sync I have now.

My Predator 4K g-sync is IPS and goat level, if you ask me.

You can but you'll miss out on the sync part. I recommend some users to go find monitors in the used market.
Best overall w/ features monitor (600) - 1440/165hz/biggest size/curved/IPS

Nah, Nvidia is g-sync, and AMD is freesync.
