1st post! Been lurking since Sohh, found the oasis that is thecoli
but never got out of my lurking comfort zone :manny:

I need help from the tech gods in this thread though so the lurking had to be broken.
Got a lil brother (14) that wants a gaming PC as he doesnt fukk with consoles anymore. Lil dude been acting up lately because we got another brother (15) that's the golden boy and gets all the shine. Now I'm older (32 :old:) and out the house so I'm not around as much to straighten him out, but I know the golden boy already got a ps4 on lock for Xmas cus I helped moms track it down. She ain't willing to put up the funds for the gaming PC though cus the build my lil bro has comes in at like a grand where I'm living.:dahell:

Long story short, I'm gonna post the build (partial or full I dont know) and ask that you tech guru's take a look and let me know if there are any parts listed there that could be replaced with
something cheaper without affecting the overall performance :lupe:

AMD FX 4170 CPU
Corsair 500w Bronze plus certified PSU
WD Blue 1TB 7200rpm HardDrive
GeForce GTX 650 ti boost ddr5 GPU
ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 Motherboard
Corsair vengeance 4gb stick 1600 ddr3 Ram

:salute: in advance for any and all help. I think if I can help him get this, then he might not think the golden boy just gets everything he wants, and maybe he'll take that knowledge and get back on path. I really dunno shyt about computers either, so keep it simple for a :flabbynsick: brother!

you can get a way better computer for $1000, give me like 20 minutes to build you one. Goal is $1000? Or prefer less expensive ?

nah he posted the build to see if we can top anything cheaper then what he posted without effecting performance...

@Marcquel u might have to spend a minimum of $600 for a low end gaming rig. It'll play the best thats out but wont have peak performance.

I posted that $700 build earlier thatll smoke that computer

but it isnt for $600

@VladTheImpaler said he can build a better $600 computer than the $700 computer I built :troll: maybe now would be the perfect time for him to chime in on this subject and finally come through and show us his computer making skills :troll:

if you arent trying to spend too much more then replace that processor (its not that good, its already outdated), spend an extra 100 and get him

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116504

and you can find a similiar priced motherboard thatll work with that processor

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131835

itll increase the performance of that PC you posted by a lot... right now the computer you listed would struggle to run Battlefield 4 on medium settings without frame dips. The processor is bottle necking the rest of the computer.

If it cant run a game that came out already at medium settings, then itll struggle to run games coming up in the next few years on low-medium as well (and kind of defeats the purpose since you are getting him it now). Spend the extra $100, itll be worth it, and then later if he needs to make it more powerful the processor will be the leasto f his concerns he can just upgrade the RAM and video card. 4 GB of RAM is also pushing it today, but thats something he can add himself later as well.

Spend the extra $100 tho bruh

Many thanks for all the suggestions already. I knew ya'll wouldn't let me down, plus I know people like to flex and exhibit their knowledge of such things.

@itsyoung!! Goal is to have it under a grand, I'm thinking 7-8 hundred range, but closer to 7 would be better.

@bboystyle 6 bills is doable, again might even be able to push 8, but that gnote was moms cutoff:wow:

@VladTheImpaler if he's trolling then help a brother out and chime in. Young mans life at stake :lupe:

Not to be a pushy a$$hole, but if you could cut and paste the build I posted, and just put your replacement parts beside the part it will replace, it would be a big help :myman:

I think you should stop being a troll and leave people alone with your bad info. You are as someone else has put it, a troll to the highest degree.

@Liquid get this guy outta here and let others get real knowledge from those that want to help.
