I'm using Windows 8 and a blutooth adapter(Rocketfish) I copped from Worstbuy a while ago. Idk about Win 7 compatibility. You can turn off the controller, just hold the PS button for about 10 seconds and it cuts off.

I'll have to read more about the win7 compatibility. The DS4 looks so good though... Hopefully it'll work with win7 too

Yep, USB or bluetooth. This is my official controller for my PC now until I try out the steam controller. I retired my 360 pad as the cable worn out and it disconnected far too often in the middle of gameplay.
