To take memory completely out the equation nothing beats a few hours of MemoryTest86+ like DF suggested. 1 hour though is too short a test since errors can come up hours after. I'd run it overnight if you wanted to really make sure it isn't ram.

Hard lock ups are usually CPU / Ram related. It would be rare for it to be the CPU if you're not overclocking. If your GPU's are factory overclocked you can try to increase their voltage a bit though unstable gpu clocks usually just cause driver crashes or game lock ups, not complete system lock ups.

I'm gonna game today and see if I noticed any issues and do the mem test tonight

I feel like it's a RAM issue for some reason. If so, I still got like 50 days left on my Fry's purchase, but if not, PNY gives out a lifetime warranty on their shyt.

I hope it's nothing, but these hard lockups in 2 games now has got me worried...

Well, I passed all 8 memtest86+ tests (aka the hour test). Tonight I'll run it all night to be sure, but I'm starting to think it's not ram now.

Is Prime95 the best way to test the stability of my CPU?

Also, other than the CPU and GPU, what else could be causing these lock ups that require hard resets?

Could it just be random and nothing to worry about (considering it happens so randomly)?

What else should I be testing?

i just got the email from steam cuz it was on my wishlist. ive seen this playout before, will wait until the last day of summer sale for dat deluxe edition to be $10 . could've gotten it cheaper a long time ago, but i ain't fukking with uplay

Nice. You'll probably run into some problems with next gen ports like watch dogs and shyt, but last gen shyt should be good.
