Anybody familiar with the screen temporarily (about 2-4 seconds) going black whenever something like a UAC prompt comes up? Or when you try to switch users?
Is that due to my monitor's refresh rate, or could there be some other culprits?
go to:
-control panel
-system and security
-change user account control settings
-drag the slider either to the 3rd one or 4th one.
the dim is normal concerning UAC, it is just more profound on slow computers
how old is the monitor? Are you sure it's not the HDMI cable or whatever it is you are using to connect?Appreciate it, but it's more than just a UAC occurance. It always does it in the Windows log-on screen as well. (I did try your suggestion tho)
And my build is fairly good. Put about $1500 into it this year. Only thing receycled was the keyboard, mouse, and monitor.

HDMI?
I would get a cheap DVI and VGA cable to make sure it's not that. A couple of bucks on AmazonHDMI?

Had it for at least 3 years.
I'm tryna upgrade to dual monitors, but I don't wanna blindly drop bread and still have the same problem.
I thought going black he meant it was completely shutting out on him. I think it might be the drivers crashing and recovering or possibly the cable.
he was saying it happened along with those UAC prompts. the screen is supposed to 'dim' for that, and if your system is slow/busy, it can kinda hang on a black screen for a second in the processI thought going black he meant it was completely shutting out on him. what GPU do you have? Drivers up to date?
trying moving the cable around a bit to see if it flickers.
Didn't think about that.)did you try turning the dimming off in the UAC settings?Just using the GPU from my CPU. Intel 4000. (Didn't think about that.)
Drivers are good. Updates are current. Used a few different VGA and DVI cables.
Windows 7 Enterprise.
I guess I should have clarified. I'm not talking about the dimming around the UAC prompt. I mean the entire screen just goes black for a few seconds, music stops, then the screen and music start again simultaneously. It's pretty bad when I click on Switch User and then log on to an account.
Does it on my VM's as well.
Origin is a piece of shyt. Same thing happened to me, I had to redownload everything. BF4 still isn't working for me after that Hardline Beta.Man this that bullshyt I fukking hate about Origin.
BF4 was working JUST fukking fine after I used the steammover program to put BF4 on my SSD. Now today all of a sudden I'm prompted to download BF4 over because it's apparently "not installed" even though it was just fukking working yesterday.
shyt like this is why I just sometimes don't even want to freaking deal with PC gaming. why the fukk is it giving a problem today when it was fine before?? shyt is so fukking dumb.

let me get mafia 2I thought going black he meant it was completely shutting out on him. I think it might be the drivers crashing and recovering or possibly the cable.
BTW if anyone wants BioShock 1 or 2, Spec Ops The Line, Mafia II, or Darkness II let me know. I have extra copies due to the 2K bundle.
