Got the Gigabyte G1 Windforce 980 and the card is ridiculously large. It is larger than the GTX 780 Twin Frozr I swapped with it and the fans are noticeable too.
Yeah those Windforce cards are always ridiculously big. I traded one out a while back, because it would require a case mod to fit. Great fans on them though.

I updated the drivers and the fans aren't noticeable anymore. The card barely fits in the Bitfenix Prodigy.

I still love my 780s, 980s are not worth the jump but I'm excited to see what comes out this year.

Next card I'm getting has to have 12gb of vram...

Yeah, that was the plan all along. Get outta pc gaming for 4-6 months and come back stronger than ever with cards that will suit my, admittedly outrageously high, needs.

I'm selling off my current setup once the new one is built. The plan is to put 3 gpus in this one and go 3x1440p. I dunno if it can be done though; I gotta wait on the 390xs. I may go 8gb 980 if they turn our to be good, but there are of course worries about their small memory bus, and nvidia has really been pissing me off lately. I dunno, I may have to stay 3x1080p and make a 4k monitor an auxiliary that I'll use from time to time.

I'm getting rid of this 900D case too. It's too fukking big. I think I'll go with the Corsair 750D instead. It's still big enough and good for airflow, but doesn't have the bottom part that I don't need (cuz I won't be doing custom liquid cooling, so I don't need it)

I'm excited breh, but it's a waiting game now. I don't want the 4gb 980s. I want 6-8gb of vram to be more future proof. The 390xs are supposed to be monsters and maybe we'll see Titan II's as well. I just wish all this would come sooner, rather than later.
I hope you have a crazy power supply and then a backup generator on top of that. AMD and their efficiency :silvugh:

I don't have much experience with Linux, but I would imagine it would run fine on your setup.

I've done it with no problems. I only download from private trackers, though.

you should be alright if it's a quality cable. I think over 50 is when they recommend some kind of amplifier

to be clear, it's a digital signal traveling near the speed of light, so the length of the cable won't effect latency. it also gets there or it doesn't. and if it doesn't get there, it will produce flickering or no image at all. in other words, it should be obvious if the cable isn't sufficient

Brehs I lost my PC today and have no idea wtf is wrong...:sadcam:

I shutdown last night normally and no issues whatsoever throughout the day...

Today I try to hit the power button like I normally do and nothing happens...All I get is a spin of the fans and nothing...It dont post, no beeping and no lights other than the power LED light which indicates power is going to the MB...

At first I thought it was the PSU since its not powering on right? I ran down to BB real quick and copped a new but no bueno, still the same issue...:sadcam:

Now I start removing parts one by one...Started with the GPU and all RAM except for one stick...I also tried every RAM slot on the board to rule that out and still the same issue, PC won't power on...At one point all I had left was the CPU and MB plugged in...

So basically I narrowed it down to a shorted MB or bad CPU...I'm thinking its the MB though because the chip has no signs of wear and tear on it...but I don't know brehs, I don't want to keep ordering parts without knowing what the issue is...shyt is frustrating...

Anyone got any ideas?:mjcry:
