Yeah it's what I'm leaning towards, AMD kills me with these power requirements.

But for what I'm doing (1080p gaming on High would be fine with me honestly) is it worth the extra $130 I'd spend?

:dahell: 970 gtx is barely a step below 980 gtx.. yeah it can play any game you throw at it at high 1080p and never below 60 fps as long as your processor isnt bottle necking it

Friend of mine gave me a 280x he never used. Gonna rock with that for awhile. If I hit a wall I'll wait till the ti's come out or cop a 970 at that point.

I didn't realize I gotta go pci e 3.0x16 @ x 8 with sli with z97 boards. My old x79 board had me at pci e 3.0x16@16. Hopefully there won't be a performance drop. I have the asus maximus vii forumula. I see the same situation with the asus z97-deluxe.

@2gunsup You have 2 titan xs on a asus z97-deluxe. Does the @x8 matter? I'm still getting around the same graphics 3d mark score as I did on my old build, but this x8 instead of x16 is worrying me. Have you run into any problems? Should I even be worried about this 3.0x16@8?

I get my 3 monitors tomorrow, and I'll check 6K. Hope there's not a problem :sadcam:

Edit: From reading around, it looks like it shouldn't matter. But I wanna see what you have to say, since you run a similiar setup

@duckbutta you running z97 too? Have you encountered any problems with 8 x 8 for your sli?

I've been doing a lot of research on this and apparently almost all boards have this 8 x 8 pci-e thing with z97, unless you have a plx switch, which causes additional problems. Only x79 and x99 (5830 above) can go 16 x 16.

Is 8 X 8 been alright for you?

Anybody else with x97 boards and high end gpus please chime in

That thing is really, really, really cumbersome. If you wanna move it, you gotta put it in the trunk of have a truck. It's too big in my opinion. That's why I went with the 750D, and plan on selling my 900d build asap.

I'm not worried about pcie 3 8 x 8 anymore. I asked around another forum and everybody said it was all good. We'll see for sure tonight when I get my new monitors

Here's my new build. Good Airflow :whew: (only a 2c increase from the 900d in furmark). The 4790k is a beast too. I think I got it to a stable 4.6ghz.

Yeah I got a 1500 watt psu. No more coil whine for me :win:

i want to upgrade my GPU.
i currently have an EVGA GTX 760.

i'm looking at the GTX 970 but :patrice:...dat .5 gig that is way slower but the price is right.

i'm hesitant to jump on the AMD tip.

i wanna stay under or around the $400 range for a new card.

anyone have thoughts?
