Sli gets worse year after year. I have Titan X SLI in my system, and SLI is a problem with 75% of games. I don't even know why I have 2 cards. Most games don't implement it properly and VR doesn't either. I'm waiting on the 1080ti or the Titan Pascal card myself. I'm done with SLI. I'm just gonna get one Titan Pascal and liquid cool it, so I can overclock it heavy

Edit: To answer your question, 980ti is about equal to 980 sli, if you overclock. fukk SLI, that shyt is a pain in the ass. Keep your 980ti if you can't get a full refund. Otherwise, return the 980ti and get the 1080

Nah, I'm keeping my 3 monitors (for work reasons, multi-tasking etc.), but I'm a 1440p/4K gamer now. I haven't gone 3 monitors since when I got the Titan Xs (there's a bug in the Maxwell cards that artifact when you use 3 monitors....).

I'm heavy into VR right now, and I gotta say, VR is much more immersive than 3 monitors. I'm thinking about getting a 1440p ultra wide, but we'll see.

I have been thinking of getting a 3 monitor setup like I had in the past.

Work on the left and right monitors and a game in the middle. shyt was perfect to keep an eye on things.

Yeah, that's what I do now. GPU, temps, and CPU monitoring on the right, gaming in the middle, mediamonkey (music) on the right. When writing a paper, it's (notes on left, writing on middle, pdf on right)

You probably should give up the gaming on those 3 monitor set ups because I'm pretty sure that is what is causing your gaming problems and not the SLI...I got some slightly overclocked 980's in SLI and these things churn through games like butter...sure it might take awhile after release for a game to have SLI support...but I game at 1600p so one of the 980's can handle most games even without SLI...

Best cards I ever owned...I tend to upgrade every two years but I think I am going to rock these 980's until they just can't handle games anymore...

Hopefully game devs start taking advantage of DX12 so I can squeeze some extra life out of them

Yeah my 3 monitors are causing me problems for sure. I'm done with that shyt. The ultra wide should give me enough peripheral vision to make up for it. Plus it's 34". I can't believe I got it for less than $800. I immediately jumped on that deal. I could sell my 3 1440ps for $1K and probably make like $100-$200 dollars. Getting an incredible brand new monitor for negative $200 that won't cause me problems
