i am fukking salty

4.4 stable at 1.25 but to get my goal of 4.5- im already into the 1.3 territory and still testing, ah....

After reaching a certain frequency the voltage needed to become stable increases exponentially. I'm at 1.38v for 4.8, for 5.0 I need 1.50v. Are you doing offset overclocking or fixed?

@2gunsup

i didnt really expect 4.5 to be the "wall" i had to climb over, really hoped it was the 4.6 wall (that i didnt plan to climb anyway)

:noah:

are you a 12 hour prime = stable guy?, there has to be a faster way to test these overclocks...... feel like im still living in archaic times

Cool, after you find your fixed stable voltage you're going to want to use offset. Be sure to run higher levels of LLC, whatever translate to 80% or so on your board.

Run Prime95 for 2 to 3 hours with the quoted settings,

Either use Prime95 Blend mode or better use...

MY PREFERRED CUSTOM TEST
Match the settings to what is in the picture below and use these settings for every test in this guide.

"Number of torture test threads to run" should be automatically be set to 4 or 8 depending on what CPU you have.

"Memory to use in MB" should be set to 512 x # of GB of RAM installed. 4GB x 512 = 2048. 8GB x 512 = 4096.

Be sure to have these advanced options checked. They are not checked by default.
~Click "Cancel" on the Torture Test popup to unlock the menus.

Also, be sure that your memory is 100% stable before overclocking. A lot of times memory will be the cause of an unstable system and often goes unnoticed. Leave the computer running Memtest86+ over night with your cpu on stock settings this way you can make sure its stable and can be ruled out whenever your overclocks are unstable.

What board do you have and what guide are you using?

That would be the guide to follow, I run my PLL at 1.5. But yeah, I wouldn't even proceed until I knew that my ram was 100% stable.

Take a look at the Asrock guide as well, you may pick up a few pointers though the wording in Asus UEFI's is usually different,

http://www.overclock.net/t/1198504/...-sandy-bridge-ivy-bridge-asrock-edition/0_100

If you need help or have any questions try asking in that asus thread, dudes are usually very helpful and most know their shyt.

Why the hell does it seem like whenever I don't play certain games on my PC for a while, whenever I do go back to it something always go wrong???

My sleeping dogs save file mysteriously disappeared out of nowhere :beli:. fukk this, I'm not starting it over.

the saves for that game are in the actual game folder, and not in your 'documents' folder or the 'cloud'. so if you uninstalled it and deleted the folder, you lost the saves. most games store your saves in your documents folder so that doesn't happen, but not SD apparently

yea I know that I checked in the data folder for SD and there was nothing there. I did change my tb hard drive a while back. I can't remember if I played it or not since.

i recently installed an SSD and kept my old hd as storage.
i went to play Max Payne 3 again but my save games where gone.
i went to my old HD and copied the save game to paste to my new SSD and it worked out well.

I don't even have that hd no more.. I wish steam cloud was mandated for every game going forward.

couldnt get to 4.5 without upping the volts too much (and beast temps) for my liking....
so im just gonna stick to 4.4

@2gunsup >>>>>>>> my manual vcore was 1.240 and my full load vid was 1.3210, so my offset is negative 0.080 (did i do that right?)

That's correct. The 212 isn't really going to do you any favors with Ivy and temps.
