I can't tell the difference between 4XSSAA @ 1080P from 2xSSAA.

Yeah, the difference is miniscule. The difference in the other AAs is difficult for me to see sometimes. Even TXAA doesn't look that much better than the others. It's really hard to tell differences unless you look real close and zoom in on shyt.
well once it's enough to get rid or most of the aliasing, shimmering, etc, it does get superfluous
I'm sure you'll notice the difference in performance though. that kind of supersampling (SSAA) is pretty much the same thing as downsampling
In that screenshot, Tressfx seem to be the most taxing effect. If I were to cut it off I'd gain about 10-20fps I believe. I try to play every game downsampled from 1440P. It also helps I'm sitting a few feet away from a 1080P TV so it wouldn't be as noticeable to me as say a desktop monitor user.
