:mjcry:
During today’s Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez talked about Beth Pheonix’s departure from WWE NXT commentary. Phoenix is still with WWE and there’s talk of her tagging with her husband in the storyline with The Miz and Maryse but it looks like Phoenix’s full-time days in WWE are over.

Alvarez noted on WOL that the option is there for Phoenix to be part of the feud on the main roster while continuing her full-time commentary duties on NXT but that is not what is going to happen and she is done completely with the NXT brand.

Alvarez said, “It’s not like she couldn’t do the main roster feud with Miz & Maryse and also do NXT commentary. She has just decided she is done with NXT. Whatever that means, she says it’s due to family, but this also, again might not be the last person. Because no matter what you guys think about me or anyone else saying that it sucks — it does. There are people there who have told me that it’s just not fun anymore.”

It’s no secret that morale in the company has taken a dive this year with a record number of talent and staff being let go due to what the company says are budget-related reasons.

I know this thread isn't about Beth Phoenix, but I'm genuinely annoyed at how overrated her legacy has become. She was never a great wrestler. She, just like Nattie, was an average wrestler who was in an era full of mediocrity. Beth was dropping bytches on their heads on the regular :francis:

The ladder match vs Katie Lea in OVW? :ld:

(I admittedly chalk that up to home town bias/me fukking with Katie Lea heavily at the time though.:hubie:)

NXT had a great run, something that it was never even supposed to have. It started off as a stupid joke reality show, rebranded itself, and became the hottest thing in wrestling for a good five or six years. By WWE standards, that's a blessing.

Does anyone rate Beth that highly? Not even WWE shoves her accomplishments down our throats like they did with the Bellas. Seems like she's exactly what you said: A standout in a mediocre era.

She was horrible at commentary, though. This isn't a loss. :yeshrug:

They were the 2 wrestlers in the diva era completely agree. Definitely got extra credit for that. Can't think of any great Beth matches. Nattie work didn't get good till she was moved down to NXT:mjlol:

She retired at 31 and they inducted her into the Hall of Fame five years later :mjlol:

I don't know, but I see people clamoring for her to return with this Edge/Miz feud. I've also seen people wanting her to wrestle Sasha, Becky, Charlotte, etc. too ever since they put her in the hall of fame. People forget how terrible she really was. She sucked in the ring, and she sucked on commentary too.

Before Molly Holly too :scust:
