Goodell has made himself judge and jury on all player infractions on and off the field. It's not that his punishment on Ray Rice wasn't strong enough. The bigger problem is how this Ray Rice tape demonstrated that the severity of any punishment the NFL gives to players is dependent upon (anticipated)public criticism more than anything else.

I'm surprised how people let him get away with giving Ray Rice 2 games but go back suspend him indefinitely after "seeing" the tape.

If he had let those type of infractions be handled by a 3rd party like the Union(players) and a lot of other people demanded, he would have never found himself in this situation.

But Paul Loriquet, the Director of Communications for the New Jersey Attorney General, tells TMZ bluntly, “No, it’s not illegal.”

To be clear … our question was very specific: “Is it illegal for the casino to show or provide this material to a private entity in an ongoing investigation.” His answer, “No, it’s not illegal.”

The major problem with the Ray Rice fiasco is that he is being punished TWICE for the same crime even AFTER he was already PUNISHED. I thought this was another tape of a different incident, but its the same incident and yet he is punished TWICE for the same incident. Unacceptable. :answerscust:

The world has gotten smaller. The NFL is the biggest sport with the least amount of games and longest offseason. The NFL being the story year round is what they wanted(dragging out the draft, the combine coverage, the fukkign schedule release show, free agency)- they made their own bed here. Attempting a cover up was a massive boneheaded move on his part. I think him personally liking Ray Rice is why he kinda did it though.

The Problem is the whole "image problem". You want savages to play a savage sport, but you want them to be passive aggressive men. You can't have it both ways. They were fine with the whole "hip hop" gooning being banned, but the players still haven't gotten any better character wise.

There is no right move in this case. If he says well the d.a. was cool with it, the chick was cool with it, who am I to judge? He'd get shytted on even harder.

even the prosecution didnt punish him and they saw the video. do you see them going backtracking their decision? No "Mr. Rice received the same treatment by the criminal justice system in Atlantic County that any first-time offender has, in similar circumstances," Jay McKeen, a spokesman for the Atlantic County prosecutor's office, told ABC News. Listen, if thats the law. then let it be. who are we to decide what someone's punishment should be?

I wish, but the NFL is too autocratic. Teams (minus GB) are private corporations and the owners rule with impunity.

As pathetic as this may seem, he is being placed in the same sentence with guys like OJ, Rae Carruth, and Vick. That's disgusting.

The problem with Roger Goodell is that he's an inconsistent, lily-livered, liar and those chickens have returned to the crib. The fact that he decided to make himself the NFL's daddy is the exact reason why everybody is on his head now. This wouldnt' happen to Tagliabue because he stayed in his lane and didn't play Mr. "I Run this shyt" :smugbiden:.
