I have to go with Late Registration. The compositions Kanye used were amazing. The horns on We Major, touch the sky, the keys on heard em say, and diamonds(specifically) probably trumps everything on supreme clientele other than mighty healthy. The grain is superb also but the rest of the album isn't better better produced than later registration. And that's just on the sonics of it.

We can discuss how ye actually had better producers and composers to make it plus i honestly think the sound quality of newer records are just better than older ones on general.

Plus he was really rapping on this.

I'm arguing like what kind of doctor can we fly in / You know the best medicine go to people that's paid / If Magic Johnson got a cure for AIDS / And all the broke muthafukkers passed away / You tellin' me if my grandma was in the NBA / Right now she'd be okay?

Supreme clientele was the last great album to come out of NYC to me ... That album actually birthed/inspired kanye and blaze to do what jayz asked of them...

Even though both came out in the 2000's they represent 2 different eras of hiphop

Of course LR had the greater impact commercially, but I find it hard to compare because supreme clientele is actually the real blueprint!!

Lyrics alone SC is just do much denser

"kids, the old rumor is
Blacks become immune and shyt, we never did
Like eating dead birds, trust the pharmacy over herbs
Men marrying men, ill they got the urge" mighty healthy :ohhh:

They're both classics.

For all the talk that Supreme Clientele was a big influence on Kanye and Blaze, the production was a hell of a lot darker and grimier than anything that came out on The Roc. It has a nocturnal, almost sombre tone in places that's far from what 'Ye and them were doing.

Whilst Late Registration was a level of musicianship and arrangement that Supreme Clientele didn't have (and didn't want to have). It was one of the first hip hop albums I remember hearing that used orchestration to such a major effect and Kanye went even further out from there.

They're two different animals though.

Both amazing albums, and I like Supreme Clientelle better as the album, but Late Registration is one of the most beautifully produced and arranged albums I've ever listened to.
