Bruh, trust me. What you just wrote is so false its ridiculous.
:upsetfavre:

All i wrote was me mentioning that i don't use cd's to rip music onto my ps3

i use my portable hd.

And im almost certain that i'll be able to do the same with this new hardware (ps4)

if not then it's not a big deal to me at least.

it probably doesn't play cassette tapes and other outdated forms of media either. the last physical CD i purchased was Get Rich or Die Trying.

Haha, same here.

I'm ashamed I even caught on that late.

fukking bought blueprint 2

Be prepared to spend 80-90$ per video game that will be downloadable only and no more discs :snoop:

I don't get how it couldn't or wouldn't. If it can play DVDs, are CDs all that different in terms of how the data is read?

:what:

cd's are still the superior quality audio format though. why wouldn't the optical drive on the latest sony entertainment device support them?

Not a big deal. People won't pass up on buying it because it doesn't play cd's, but I know a lot of people that still burn and use cd's.

I wonder if I'll be able to store songs on it that i didn't buy from PSN, that will be the big deal.
Finally, someone who wants to talk about the threads topic with intellect :whew:
Didn't think it was gonna happen.
This thread isn't really about playing CD's as much as it is asking WHY CAN'T WE
This is what I'm thinking, they they will block maybe not all, but most ways of listening to music so you are kinda FORCED to buy shyt.
If there is another possible reason for them to take the ability out, I'm all ears EVERYONE

I didn't mean every word you wrote, just the HDD angle. But I thought you was talking about movies. I never even thought about streaming music from a portable HDD because I'd just stream it from my PC directly :hula:

But this topic, I feel most ppl are only looking at it from there current perspectives. Yeah, I don't use my console to stream music very often.
But then again, my console isn't gonna be this do everything box like the newer consoles WILL BE :ufdup
Haha, same here.

The last album I bought was Scarface My Homies 2 :sadcam:
Actually, I did by Jewell Ortiz first album, aahhhhh man, this is hip-hop :ahh:
Whatever happened to hip-hop anyway...
im not gon lie to u i havent put a cd in my gaming console since ps1 and havent used cds for about 5 or 6yrs now so this "news" is literally pointless and your :troll:'n is just sad :cheesinbron:

I quoted you two guys just to show other posters what fanboys look like...

Thats all I'm asking. There is a REASON for this. Its not wise to just blindly be like "Well, I dont use CD's" because neither do I
Maybe they trying to create a sony version of iTunes?
The devices are call connected is the angle. You can take PSN with you anywhere (sounds just like what xbox is doing)
So why wouldn't they try to make money since they own sony music???
I hope the rest of you THINNNNNNNNNNNNNK

i'm not saying that it should not support it, but looking at the big picture does it really matter?

i see what cockmeat is saying with Sony pushing digital purchases by not allowing cd's and that is lame...but at the end of the day i don't use cd's for music and i don't use consoles to game so i don't care about this at all.

hard copy media will always be with us and i respect that...so banning it entirely is wack...but the world is in a transitional faze...hard copy vs. digital

things like this will happen.
it will play out and then play out again and again.

i care to an extent within the boundaries of the discussion.

should hardware be limited in it's abilities to benefit the manufacturer?
depends on who you ask.

i would like to do whatever i want to with something i bought, but that may come at a cost to whoever made the product i'm using.

so here we are discussing the point at hand...

These guys don't really get it though.

Calling a CD "ancient".

I mean, computer and laptop manufactures might as well get rid of the CD drives right? It's "ancient" technology after all :manny:

a lot of laptops dont have cd drives anymore :yeshrug:

Now we are, at first you was joining the masses of "people" who never EVER read past a thread title (Tru Story)

Now, to the threads topic. I hear you when it comes to the "its at a cost" and whatnot
But that doesn't usually apply to the playback of CD's since no device I can think of restricts that.
Its so damn odd, that it makes you wonder doesn't it? What is there angle here? (Where there's smoke there usually is fire)
It has to be something that will impact us. Has to be. Makes literally ZERO sense to remove such a feature unless what I'm speculating has something to it, right?

If I'm wrong, or if you can even COME UP with a different reason for them to do this, please share. I couldn't fathom any other reason.
I'm not over here dancing saying "Ha, ps4 can't do what ps1 can"
I'm concerned whatever the fukk they tryna pull might rub off on the competition
So I wanna know WTF these dudes up to. I think its a bigger deal than we realize...
