North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
LL was probably tight about the "L is that at mic on your arm, let me borrow that"... Yeah he asked Canibus to take that line out, but I think LL was :stopitslime: at other lines like

1. I'm the illest nikka alive watch me prove it. I snatch ya crown with your head still attached to it.

2. canibus is the type to fight for MIC's, beating nikkas to death and beating dead nikkas to life...

Those lines were all digs and LL or at least that's what he thought. If it was up to LL, Canibus would've re did his entire verse but it was probably too late. Obviously L left his rebuttal on for a reason. I was arguing with nikkas at work yesterday over this.

Yeah LL told him to change his verse about the mic, he did but then came back talking about the mic again.

For a so-called smart rapper, Canibus has made some stupid decisions in his career.

I never understood why LL took that line personal. But damn @ LL going at a prime Canibus.

A lesser emcee would have seen this as a bad idea.

He couldn't get another major deal, but he put out good music for a 5 year span.

At first I thought it was a bytch move by LL for leaving his diss on but after seeing Canibus still throwing shots I can see why he did that now.

You gotta remember my dude, LL and Canibus also had a conversation about that before they did the song. If I remember correctly, Canibus told L he wanted to get a mic as a tat after seeing L's and L told him nah, get something that's different, something that's yours. And then Can says that in the rhyme, on L's song. Remember, it's was already a subject they discussed, L wasn't for it but Canibus is still pushing the issue and on one of LL's songs. See why he took it personal? It may have been unintentional but it was still disrespectful. And include the points the thread starter made, if they did play a role, then L's reaction makes sense to me.

He did it for rep. Who would really want to go at a prime Canibus? In the 90s, Canibus and Pac were probably the last two rappers you would ever want to challenge.

I'm a Pac fan, but :comeon:

NO rapper was scared of Pac on wax, its crazy that Pac that challenged Nas, Mobb Deep, Biggie, Jay Z in their prime, but TBH I honestly think he was biting off more then he could chew going at all those nikkas on wax at once, NY would have easily won a rap battle against Pac.

Keep in mind Bad Boy, had the LOX on their side, and we all know all three of them nikkas could spit :whew:

You mean the Pac that made Ambitionz of a Rider, Hit Em Up, and Against All Odds? Also, the Disc 2 of All Eyes on Me where he was going at everyone's head.

We heard everyone of those guys shot, besides Nas, it wasn't close to being a clean sweep.

Lox going at Pac was not going to happen, Styles was the only one who was a problem in '97, his features on those Clue tapes were very detrimental. But a young Sheek and Kiss were easily outmatched.

Yes, that same Pac. Drop a gem on them and Long Kiss goodnight was on par with those diss songs Pac dropped, lets be honest here, from a technical perspective, Biggie and Prodigy are FAR better rappity rappers than Pac was.

As we saw with Stillmatic freestyle, Nas can put in work in a rap battle as well, Pac had no chance.

A battle didn't really get to take off, and if did, Pac wouldn't have had a chance of winning :comeon:

:shaq2: at Pac outmatching Sheek and Jada in 96, they was dope rappers from the jump, they had dope verses on "Last Day".

It would have ended up like the G Unit - LOX battle back in 05, which the LOX won by a landslide.

Pac was not no super rapper, hes not even a elite lyricist so how was he gonna beat top tier rappers in a rap battle? :rudy:

There is many great things about Pac's music, but dude was not built for that battle life.

I heard the phone conversation between them when Canibus posted it on IUMA

In a nutshell:
Canibus told him...breh, I didn't mean anything by it
LL said, ok just take the part about borrowing the mic and noone will be the wiser. He says my verse just sounds like a regular verse without context

Canibus said you right L. ok will do i got you

Then Canibus turned right around and released a response anyway

Thats why Canibus is a running joke today. Even though people didnt like his first joint (I did), he could have built a nice career off some singles. Happens all time...but he did a dummy move and got L's blackballs

Redman and MC Lyte are probably FAR better rappity rappers than Pac, Ice Cube, or Chuck D were. Sometimes talent is all you need.

We heard everyone's effort, besides Nas, and it was not a clean sweep. You even said it was on par with what Pac was doing, but in the same breath you say he can't beat rappers in a battle? :dwillhuh:

Styles was killing those Hev E Components mixtapes, I can't think of anything memorable from Kiss and Sheek before '99. Lox would have been a non factor, and these guys were getting served by Beans if I remember correctly. Beans was battling 3 crews at once with no breather.
