I heard the phone conversation between them when Canibus posted it on IUMA

In a nutshell:
Canibus told him...breh, I didn't mean anything by it
LL said, ok just take the part about borrowing the mic and noone will be the wiser. He says my verse just sounds like a regular verse without context

Canibus said you right L. ok will do i got you

Then Canibus turned right around and released a response anyway

Thats why Canibus is a running joke today. Even though people didnt like his first joint (I did), he could have built a nice career off some singles. Happens all time...but he did a dummy move and got L's blackballs

This.

Also LL and him spoke again before Canibus dropped "2nd Round Knockout". And LL asked him not to drop the song, and he did it anyway.

Fred.

Nas ignored those Dipset/SP dudes for the most part, I'm not sure why he didn't respond to them :patrice: You're acting as if Nas gave SP/Dipset the time of day and responded back with battle songs of his own, which he didn't. I could understand if he responded back and SP/Dipset still gave him that work and won the battle, but that wasn't the case.

Back then, west coast was :flabbynsick: compared to NYC, other than Ice Cube, who on the west was messing with NYC in 96? That's the west coast GOAT rappity rapper, he would had to jump in for the west coast to have any sort of hope of winning that battle.

Biggie/Nas/Jay/Prodigy are far better rappers than E40, DJ Quik and them.

E40 sent GOONS to check Biggie for calling him wack, rather than keep it Hip Hop and grab a pen and a pad and son him on wax, you expect me to believe this dude could have helped the west coast in the rap battle? :comeon:

Face it, on wax the east coast would have gave the west coast that work :jawalrus:

If we just talkin visible nikkas Ice Cube,Pac,Kurupt yeah he wuz ridin....and ain't 3 proud west coast nikkas willin to diss directly and disrepectfully way stronger than 20 so called battle rappers dissin subliminally:heh:....on a sidenot I just wanna add to the fact west coast has a winning record in battles against the east coast,Jay gettin Jayo with a hyped to the max one liner is the saving grace:pachaha:and jayo held his own.

And then u gon disrespect 40 like u ain't hear Record Haters:childplease: guess nikkas ain't wanna keep it hiphop wit 40 either and spit a response....matter fact 40 wuz the wild card,u don't think Biggie gettin set up out in the Bay would've been sum nice ammo for Pac if Biggie had decided to get cocky, woulda been a bad look, pac already had dirt as it wuz...callin a nikka wack then beggin for mercy?than askin for a feature?

I don't think it was Clef. He just didn't have an ear for beats. He was a battle rapper and that's it. He didn't know what it took to make a hot song. He didn't question anything the producers did.

The run Group Home Management had, Canibus should have stayed with that family.

I like ur gunit comparison, but u talkin bout gunit in 05,talk about if it wuz grodt era 50 by himself beefin with the lox:pachaha:....u talkin on strictly a technical level is a mistake, look at the canibus LL battle....Canibus on a technical level u would say got LL and probaly would have 9 times outta 10...but at that time LL had the underdog thing goin for em where fans were rootin for em to come back swingin.
.

Under dog? Everyone looked at LL as a bully. Canibus should have got it, I wanted to give it to Bis, but I was still awe struck by LL's coming at dude above and beyond.

That 4,3,2,1 verse was :scusthov:

Back Where I Belong was just unnecessary at that point.

im still in awe over the fact that its 2013 and people in here still think that dudes like nas, jay & biggie are some battle-rap juggernauts.

chit is almost as bad as people wanting LeBron "basic dunk" james in the slam dunk contest.

So u actually thought LL was gon beat Canibus who wuz considered the best rapper by many at the time:snoop:...u thought he would lose to a larry holmes status LL?u mighta thought he wuz a bully in his tactics but did u think skillwise he wuz gon bully Canabis?cuz I think the response of LL bein as strong as it wuz took people of guard, this wuznt the 80's....I think he wuz counted out by a lot of people

You do realize LL was killing '95 and '96, no way anyone looked at LL as Larry Holmes status in '98. When I heard LL's verse, I knew Bis was in trouble. I felt it was very unnecessary on LL's part, but I rewinded that verse at least 10 times when I first heard it.

Biggie addressed everyone, he was built for war. Pac was just as good, so it was always gonna end in a draw. Nas has went at enough people, its hard to doubt Kid Wave.

biggie was not on pac's level with the disses at all.

biggie was running around trying to get help from other rappers.

there was no draw.

Lol pretty much all rap battles between east and west wouldve gone the way of e40 vs az short lived battle

Basically az a superior battle rapper who would serve 40 hypotheticaly and be seen as lyricaly superior until stuff went on wax

Then a song like record haters comes and all is quiet on he eastern front that stuff actually happened no hypos

And if the war with pac wouldve gone on you wouldve started to see the bay mobilize and start throwing shots to these supposeded goat battle rappers from nyc cause u know the east wouldve been getting reckless with the disses

Ice cube alluded to this ras kass on sonset a lot of west coast heads wouldve been comming out he woodwork if stuff wouldve really popped off

But lucky for the east all they had the nerve to do was drop hidden subs or stay quiet like jay and az once shyt got hot

Plus lets not act as pac didnt hav emerging east coast presence in boot camp and elements of he wu riding for pac imagine if pac gets boot camp on death row east aka major label on wax those goat nyc battle rappers wouldve had to go through them first

"yo L is that a mic on your arm? let me borrow that" - Canibus
L asked him to change his verse.
Canibus comes back with - "Canibus is the type to fight for mics" :shaq:

Why is L wrong for keeping his diss if Canibus insisted on dissing him on his own record? :comeon: All he had to do was not mention the mic, he did anyway and it ruined his career.
